Raptaurs always struck me as a cross between Gger's Alien and the Spider-baddie, Venom.

The original Raptaur design - by Dean Ormston, IIRC - was basically just the Alien suit with a "face" and tentacles instead of those peculiar pipes.

According to the Raptaur trade, the Raptaur creature design is credited to Tony Luke.

Which is why I've given him the credit instead of Drean Ormston on the Raptaur profile page.
