I suppose there was probably little doubt about who'd get the top slot.

I can't think tomorrow holds any suprises - although I like to imagien some kind of aetheral wizardly conflict with strange familiars being used as pawns and the clouds turning the colour of bruises.

Frankly, any top *50* where Wagner is omitted seems a tad iffy to me, but there you go.

Ian Curtis of Joy Division was a right-wing, Metallica are even more right-wing and John Byrne is even even more right-wing.  Does it really matter?  As long as their art is great, so what?  Just coz I wouldn't vote for them, doesn't mean they can't produce great works.  And Days of Future Past (for example) was a great work.

Was there any doubt? The most impressive thing is that, after the tight votes for the other places, the top two got the kind of votes that guaranteed their respective places.

Also good to see 5 folks in the top 5 who wrote for 2000 AD (even if a couple only passed through).
