It does have subtitles, and on the back it says SDH subtitles if that's any help.

As long as a DVD has 'Subtitles: English' on the back, I'm generally ok, as I'll at least know what people are saying. SDH (Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of hearing) has descriptions of sound events too; [pigs squeal], [telephone rings] etc.
Sometimes they can go a bit too far, though, like that last Star Wars boxed set that subbed every single bloop, beep and whistle that R2-D2 made. A tad OTT there, methinks.
