Pomm, pompty pom-pom pompom pommm - oh!
« on: 24 January, 2007, 06:08:14 PM »
I've finally finished watching ALL of Blake's 7.  It was a lot of fun, although very cheesy. I'm lucky I had a B7 expert to discuss the experience with, who could advise me in the ways of future alcoholic drinks (which always look like orange or green cordial). And, to my great happiness that annoying twat Tarrant finally snuffed it
Now what? What nerdier pastures can I move on to? Any suggestions?

Depends.  In a similar vein you could go for Space 1999 or UFO, but what kind of nerdy thrills are you after, Fløyd?

Tomorrow People is quite good fun.  Watching it makes you think how far children's sci-fi shows haven't come in the intervening years, though.

I only ever saw a little bit of Space 1999, but remember it as being complete pants...in fact 2000ad had a review when some of the episodes came out on video and said it was pants. However, it has its own gay fanclub*, which I don't think B7 has.
Tomorrow People sounds good. However, I'm skint. I think I'll go back to the library and borrow series 1 of B7 again

yours still open to nerdy suggestions

*really. I stumbled across it whilst looking for something else.

Is that bloke fourth from the left also the same guy from 'Black-Adder' ( I think he was the narrator from that 'Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy movie.)

Speaking of which. Something else you could watch and it's funny too. I though the earliest episodes were the best.

Yesterday, I was reading about this english comedy called 'Spaced' staring the guy who voices Johnny Alpha from 'Fire from Heaven' radio samples on this site.

He meets up with a young lady and they pretend to be a couple so they can get really good, but cheap  accomadation together. There's also the other guy who was in 'Shaun of the Dead' ( I'm terrible at remembering names, but I think you know who I'm talking about.)

When they pitched this sitcom to the people who produced it. They described it as abit like 'X-files' meets up with  'Northern Exposure'. So I was thinking more or less of the 'Beck & Call' comic strip.  Which is basically a British version of the X-file with students anyway.

Top show, Spaced, and good advice, but this cracked me up:

When they pitched this sitcom to the people who produced it. They described it as abit like 'X-files' meets up with 'Northern Exposure'

So they were expecting Hamish Macbeth and got Spaced instead, eh?  Great stuff!

Yeah, I though that guy looked abit like Stephen Fry with slight afro.

The other two guys from 'Spaced' and 'Shaun of the Dead' are Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

Anyway the story goes that Simon Pegg's character is a aspiring comic book artist who's actual illustration's are really penned by 2000Ad artist Jim Murray and Jason Brashill.

If anybody knows those two people. Speak up.

What a co-incidence.

I'd be very surprised if there was anyone on this board who didn't know about Spaced, Thyrllseeker. God only knows how many times I've heard repeated the fact that it referenced Strontium Dog.

Ah, well - Spaced makes a referance to the death of Johnny Alpha, you know...

Also, Tharg's disembodied head can be seen in the back room of Bilbo's comic shop.
