"tastes like... strawberries"
« on: 04 January, 2008, 12:40:43 PM »
Three times in the last two days I've come across a male character in a film/tv show referring to a female character as "tasting like strawberries".

GOLDENEYE - 006 referring to the delectable Natalya.

LOST*  Sawyer referring to the delectable Kate.

Can't remember the third but possibly involved someone delectable.

Anyway, it's a tired god awful cliche and, though I have tasted a few women (and men), I can safely say that not one of them tasted of strawberry.**

Any other obvious lines of dialogue we should get rid of?

* Lost nearly gets away with it by following it with a funny line from Kate.

** In fact, most have tatsed something similar to Kate's funny response.
Be excellent to each other. And party on!

Well how did you cook them? They only taste like strawberry if you fry them.

Crackers & cheese, sometimes with salad cream.

I just noticed my post didn't post properly!

What I had said was:

The third film you saw, Tips, was Spider-Man 3.

Lenny Kravitz had a song that, according to the CD inlay, contained the slightly surreal line:
"Black Velveteen's cat tastes like strawberry kittens"

If you listen carefully, he doesn't actually say "cat"...

Special mention here for Soylent Green, in which a jar of strawberry jam tastes like strawberries.

what was Kate's funny response?

Other lines that should be retired:

You just don't get it!

When he died, a part of me died too

also anachronistic English - phrases that are only about ten years old being used by characters in days of yore. Examples include people talking about their 'relationship' in any drama set before 1970.  D'Israeli is an occasional offender and I think 'Titanic' had a lot of 90s speak in it
