DragonBall Z Goes Live!
« on: 06 January, 2008, 02:07:12 AM »
After watching afew fan made trailers on you-tube ranging from people acting out to film clips spliced together from 'Armageddon ' and the 'Transformers' live action remake. I thought it would be a fair while longer before something like this would be seriously considered for a live action film.
As I recall being present at the seminar in talks with the voice actress who did some of the voices for the cartoon version at a Sydney Comics convention in 2002. She said words to the effect that despite the amount of buzz regarding a live action Dragonball Z film back then. This was not true.

Then she did the battlecry..... which was very impressive.

Now, according to few other fan forums and IMDB.com The live action film film should be shooting very soon, if not now.

Justin Chatwin is cast as Goku.

James Masters is cast as Piccolo.

Yeah, I thought it was abit off not having chosen
a asian to play the lead, but this guy still looks the part. As for James Masters, Yeah, I would agree, but I thought the male lead from Pitch Black ( I forget his name.) might have been more suited to playing the alien villian. Who resembles Tharg quite abit.

As for the cartoon, I still don't realy understand what a Sayien is? Watching the cartoon on regular basis few years back. It didn't matter when I tuned , I would be always seeing similer scenes of much of the same thing. Two characters muscling up, sparring, fighting and always talking about their power levels and then there would be huge explosian.

Anyway it should be interesting to see if this is a hit or a miss. Hoping it won't be another streetfighter clone.

Wasn't there a Live action DBZ film a few years back?

I'm sure I remember seeing something on you tube...

For the record a Saiyan is basically a member of a super-powered alien race who can turn into giant apes under the full moon, kinda were-Kong's

If you couldn't get into the toons, I recomend the original comics, but what do Iknow...

Reading up on Dragonball Z on the Wiki now.

Does sound abit Monkey. With martial arts, turning into giant apes and flying around.

I didn't think there were any other movies.

But I have seen one or two promicing fan made trailers for a DragonBall Z.

Just try to ignore the fact that this person looks like he's going number two behind a rock and those gloves abit too effeminate. Otherwise this looks great.

Love the Slaine hairdo.

Yeah, the original DragonBall comics were (Loosely) based on the Monkey legend

By the time the story progressed as far as DBZ most of that had been lost...
