I see the forum was infiltrated this morning with some holiday spam. I did report it as soon as I had finished booking my flights to Uganda (I think it was there).
Lets hope that that was not the first of many 
Doubtful, we have systems in place that block the vast number of spammers (I am not sure what it is up to now but it must be in the region of
50,000 [edit: 34,382] blocked since we last upgraded the forum) and we further filter the users before activating accounts. Some are still going to get through but if we ban them then they get banned from thousands of other sites, so they aren't getting in anywhere after that (and obviously this works for us too, so if they are spam elsewhere then they are blocked here).
What kind of spam was it? The post is gone but the user hasn't been banned and they still have a post up here:
