Left 4 Dead on the PC. Lot's of fun in multiplayer mode.

Steam is also worth checking out as they're having frequent online sales of games which aren't that old.

Picked up Far Cry 2 for just £16 from HMV. Got Prey for £2 from PC World and Company of Heroes is available readily for around a fiver and Bioshock is pretty cheap these days. One game that definitely has crept in under the radar is Sins of a Solar Empire. All good stuff...

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts - a very underrated game that I believe hasn't done very well. The design of it is a bit sloppy, and it takes a few hours to get into, but its well worth sticking with. It's sort of a platform/driving game, but the catch is you build your own vehicles using a kind of virtual Lego kit style editor, and tailor them to complete various challenges (win a race, knock down dominoes, lift rubbish into a giant bin etc). I'm currently tinkering with a makeshift Apache gunship that I made just for fun.

It's a truly massive game as well, I'm about 30 hours in at the moment!

Has anyone tried Mirror's Edge on the PC? It's on the XBox too I think. It's a first-person game, but instead of being a shooter, you're a free-runner with no weapons who has to leg it across city rooftops, do stunts, while outrunning the bad guys etc.  I haven't tried it, but it looks pretty cool.

It's going really cheap at the minute.

Mirror's Edge isn't that great, I'd prolly say it was the most disappointing game of '08.

Currently playing Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix quite a bit

All I play these days is Fallout 3 but a few gems I can say are...

Professor Layton & the Curious village (DS) - I think this was in short supply at chrimbo but I got it ages ago on import. Brilliant puzzle game with charming presentation and top notch graphics

Siren (PS3) - Pseudo remake of PS2 game. Creepy Japanese zombie game that I've still to finish. Some Genuinely upsetting scenes.

No More Heroes (Wii) - Mental, bonkers Japanese tribute to old fashioned video games dressed up as a cross between lightsabers/Akira & GTA. To save your game you go to the bog and take a dump, well it made me laugh. I've still to finish this as well.

GODDAMN YOU FALLOUT 3!!!
Hmm, just pretend I wrote something witty eh?

Anybody played Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe yet? I'm tempted just by the silly premise but I'd like it to be at least a bit fun before I buy it.
Nobody warned me I would be so awesome.

I once saw the trailer for this game and thought it was intreresting.

The motorcycle, the neon tube weaponry and cel shade graphics.

Very stylish.

I would like to hear more about this game.

Is it every bit as good as GTA?

BOOMBLOX for the Wii has proved suprisingly fun.

And I don't know if tehy count as "under the radar" but I'm still enjoying

Advance Wars: Dark Conflict on the DS (especially as I'm on the trial missions now and don't have to wade through almost interminable cut scenes..)

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance II: Grimoire of the Rift;  There are almost as many options for levelling up etc. as there are words in the title of the game.  Not got very far but enjoying it.
Be excellent to each other. And party on!

Is [No More Heroes] every bit as good as GTA?

Don't think so. It's pretty bonkers but there are loads of nice touches. The overworld is clunky and the combat eventually becomes repetitive but it's the kind of game that's worth experiencing. If you're into video games and sub-culture in general, the whole vibe is very cool...

I briefly played this, it's pretty cool. The fun of using a Green Lantern "hammer of justice" to blast someone through a wall is not to be underestimated.

I should prolly pimp The World Ends With You a bit. It has super-awesome J-pop stylings and innovative gameplay.

Also Valkyria Chronicles.
