I have to admit, I actually feel a bit sorry for Scojo. I realise this is an unpopular opinion, but everything I've seen so far seems to indicate that he has some form of mental health problem.

I'm not condoning his actions, but, y'know, I think he's got more than continuity issues on his mind, if you catch my drift.

I know it's annoying, I know it's the same thing every time, but I honestly think he can't help it. I'm not trying to start a debate or anything, so if you don't agree, fair enough.

GETTING BACK ON-TOPIC: This thread is really making me consider Facebooking myself up again. It's so great to see a writer I respect sharing his thoughts and his time with fans of his work.

If John had never made an effort to talk to the fans, I'd still think he was great; but he has, and that just goes to show what a true gentleman he is.

Wait until he accuses you of being a paedophile, announces that you have AIDS, or starts a thread gloating over the death of your pets, and then tell me how fucking sorry you feel for the cunt.

Seriously. Ten years. It's enough ... If 2000ad was a person, there'd have been a restraining order eight years ago, and he'd be in prison by now.

I had always known about how obsessive and how much of an annoyance he could be, from my days as a lurker, but I never realised how insulting and cruel he could be.

Well done to Mr. Wagner for putting up with him for as long as he did.

A word of warning! It appears that he may have deleted his facebook account only to sign up again under a different monicker (or even monickers). Check out Chris Hollingshead under "fans". He's recently added himself, has no photo or friends and is A fan of John Wagner and Cats! Sounds a little suspect to me. Oh yes, also amongst his pages is the Nick Griffin fan page! Make of that what you will! I get a feeling that not the only facebook account he's set up either! Bob Wick is another suspect "fan" I hope I'm wrong but I'm starting to worry that the Wagner fan page will never get shot of him! :(

ScoJo indulges in sock-puppetry shocker.  More news at 11.

Thanks for the warning, guys.  I'll bear him in mind as I browse the Wagner page.  Hopefully he's still up for this as it's just as possible to meet loonies in real life as it is on the net.

I asked John a question about how do Lawyers work in Dredds world seeing as they 'dispense instant justice'? Didn't get a response...so, do you guys have an idea? Just curious because there was a scene in the prelude to the current 'epic' that had a guy and his robot lawyer trying to plead with judges to reduce his sentence. How does that work?

I'm sure John must simply not have seen your question, Flint. He's been very responsive and has answered pretty much everything else.

I think there was a thread about this recently - my take on it is that these things aren't clearly defined - there's lawyers there because it sometimes makes for a better story - it's possible that John may regret giving the judges too much power in the first place (as evidenced by some of his recent answers) and has introduced the lawyer-bots to make things more interesting.

From a story point of view, you could argue that lawyers have become more commonplace in recent times because of the policies of Chief Judges Volt and Hershey, both reformers and (relatively) liberal.

ISTR lawyers appearing as far back as the Crime Files in -- what, the 120s?

I've always had the impression that the Judges dispense instant justice, in the manner with which we are all familiar, and the lawyers are there to dispute the basis of the arrest or sentencing after the fact.

I think there may have been examples of lawyers challenging a Judge during the arrest process, but I suspect that getting the legal grounds for dispute wrong would result in a prison sentence for obstruction, and this might explain why you don't see more lawyers on a day-to-day basis ...

Cheers!

There'd be corporate lawyers as and when deemed necessary. Also, family, lost and found, child lawyers. Alsorts of levels need lawyers beyond mere crime and punishment. And I am aware Dredd has dealt with every minutae of law on this scale. From dropping gum,to infiltration from bounty hunters from another planet.

Manny Bloom (The Rondo Hatton lookalike) who Dredd impersonated was an early lawyer.
