An ignore function is useful- it can even be a Godsend at times. Telling people how many people are ignoring them is just stupid beyond words.
I agree. In any community, as with any group of people be it on an internet forum or a bunch of people you socialize with down the pub, there will be people who don't get on with other people. You can't help it, it's a fact of life. There will be people you like who
completely, inexplicably like other people who you can't stand. Clearly, there is some quality in those people that I am missing. I can't help it, but I am.
Now, I know I'm a grumpy bastard who can run on a bit of a short fuse at times, so just pretending that they don't get on my tits can be a bit wearing, and I can't trust myself to bite my tongue
every time they post something that winds me up. Hence: onto the ignore list they go. This says more about
me than it does about them, so letting them know that they are ignored may (or in the case of my ignore list, much more likely, may not) cause them to wonder what they have done 'wrong' when the simple answer is: nothing. Their presence on my ignore benefits my blood pressure and the general mood of the board, since I'm not snapping at them.
Can we get rid of the "Ignored by X users" feature, please, Vince?
Cheers!
Jim
