Well I'd say its a shame that he's retired but he's left us with so much wonderful stuff to enjoy that we have plenty to get by on. Its great that he's got this website now as a testament to his brillant career.

Lets hope he has a long and happy retirement.

We've started threads to give good wishes to other droids on retirement/illness/hard times in general - Ron Smith & Cam Kennedy in particular, but there was at least one other (before my time I think).

How about one to thank Mr Ranson and wish him well for a long, healthy and happy retirement?

Fingers crossed it means more work

Not according to this post: http://www.arthurranson.com/content/hullo-folks wherein he says
Quote
Asked to consider a web site I initially saw no grounds for it. I no longer work, imagine selling artwork by via it a bore.

I'd suggest y'all go over and say hello to him...

Thanks for spotting this, I got over-excited and went nosing around the galleries and overlooked this.

I have left a note and a link back to this thread.

Arthur Ranson - What a talented artist. I always thought Mazeworld looked great, but never became a classic due to a slow and meandering script; and I think he was the definitive Anderson artist  - he really captured the humanity of those stories.

If he's retiring, fair play he's earned it, if he's still working, then get him commissioned for more Anderson, but either way I wish him well!

Great art and neat website.

I'll put this in the diary: January 14th. Exhibition at Orbital Comics Gallery in Great Newport Street, London WC2 7JA.
I love the flier as well.

Bit too much of this artists retiring business going on if you ask me. Wishing Mr Ranson all the best and a happy retirement.

Arthur Ranson has just put an up date on his site with some details of art for sale from a 3rd party here

http://www.bookpalace.com/acatalog/Home_Arthur_Ranson_Art_483.html

Alas I'm a bit priced out of this at the moment but some of the stuff seems very reasonable.

There's many other great artists stuff for sale here so its a fun site to explore, even if a bit of a tease!

I do recall that tv programme in the 90s in which he featured in. Some sort of new age counselling type holiday. I think it showed him drawing.

Love the fact that his daughter is called Cassandra.

Well happy retirement to Arthur Ranson.

Perhaps we'll see some occasional covers or comic strips from him just so we can marvel at those detailed panels and his amazing and unique art style.

My favourite programme ever:

A few other classic Robins thrown in for good measure, for a readership blissfully unaware of Jason Connery, Kevin Costner and Russell Crowe.
