January Previews, for "March" shipping
« on: 30 December, 2009, 01:12:39 AM »
Will we see these in the US in March, or closer to Memorial Day?  Who knows?  The August-solicited "October" pack of progs 1656-59 only made it to Atlanta stores the week before Christmas!  All we know for sure is that if you're in Britain, you'll have these months before us!

2000 AD PACK #10 MAR 2010
By Various. Artist Various. Cover by NA.

(W/A) Various The UK's award-winning weekly SF anthology title has been in continuous publication for 33 years, and still stands at the cutting edge of comics! There's murder most foul as Mega-City mayor Byron Ambrose sets his sights on a very important victim in 'The Talented Mayor Ambrose,' the future of imperial Russia hangs in the balance as Nikolai Dante takes a final stand in 'Hero of the Revolution,' Stickleback: London's Burning comes to a fiery climax, the ABC Warriors fight to save Mars from the evil Volkhan in the finale of 'The Volgan War,' plus three new stories start.

(NOTE: 2000 AD February pack includes issues #1674-1678.)

JUDGE DREDD MEGAZINE #295
JUDGE DREDD MEGAZINE #296
By Various. Artist Various. Cover by NA

More pulse-pounding excitement from the world of Judge Dredd! The future cop meets a mysterious law enforcer in the Cursed Earth in 'Outlaw' by Rob Williams and Guy Davis; Tempest fights to save the fabric of the universe in 'Time Zero' by Al Ewing and Jon Davis-Hunt; and more slices of Mega-history are exposed as the Apocalypse War brings the city to its knees, and gangs go on the rampage in Judge Dredd The Lost Cases by Alan Grant and David Roach. All this plus more manic fun with Tank Girl by Alan Martin and Rufus Dayglo, interviews, reviews and more. Plus in the bagged graphic novel this month: the mutant ghettos explode into violence in Strontium Dogs: Monsters by Garth Ennis and Steve Pugh (295), and tales from the edges of the galaxy are told in The Best of Pulp Sci-Fi by Dan Abnett, Robbie Morrison, Colin Wilson, Mark Harrison, Dean Ormston and more (296)!

SLAINE DEMON KILLER TP
By Pat Mills. Artist Various. Cover by NA.

(W) Pat Mills (A) Glenn Fabry, Cam Kennedy, Greg Staples Slaine is summoned by the Earth Goddess to travel through time and defend the Britons from Caesar's legions at the side of warrior queen Boudicca. But the Romans are not to be underestimated, especially with Slaine's old foe, the demon Elfric, at their side!

No sign that Button Man vol 4 is being solicited...

HoVistoCose's new redesign is baffling me, so I'm not seeing anything of note from Titan or Panini this time.  If anybody sees anything I missed, please follow up here!

Glad to hear that you got you're October pack too Grant.

Oddly enough, it as only the other day in the bath Stevie was ruminating about the whole Ambrose plot thread had been sidelined by Tour of Duty. Guess it goes to show one should never EVER underestimate the master, especailly when you've only a flannel & a loofa to back you up.

Couple of interesting things there to speculate on. Firstly does 'The taleted Mr Ambrose' mean that 'Tour of Duty' will have ended by March or is it a break OR is it part of the epic?

Also Cam Kennedy is listed amongst the artists on 'Demon Killer' what am I forgetting????

And we are getting Strontium Dogs- Monsters! Personal YEY! Next can we have the Alan Grant & Carlos Durham Red Please?

I'm hoping that the talented Mayor Ambrose is another Interlude for TOD, especially as it is coming so soon.

I would imagine that it's part of TOD. Wagner has said that he's already written 23+ episodes (we're currently at around episode 16) and that's not even counting the (5 part, I think) Gordon Rennie interlude story we're getting in the new year.

Barring those two Sky Chariots covers, I don't believe that Kennedy ever drew Slaine, so I'd assume that was an error, TBH.

Cheers!

Now he's retired, we're unlikely to GET him drawing Slaine more either.  Shame.  Must be a mistake?  He sure as pickle didn't draw Demon Killer/Queen of Witches or anything around that time.  Maybe an annual story is the only way I can see it, but I don't think he did....

Spoiler tags are a good idea here, as it's not an obviously spoilerific thread but it's just the sort where overseas readers - ie delayed - will take a look. Story titles hint at the future, but let's not go too far.

Anyway, good news: Mayor Ambrose! Yes!

Bad news (for me): Stonty Dogs. Yawn. Maybe I'll view it differently this time around.
