Comic Industry Knighthoods
« on: 22 September, 2002, 01:24:47 AM »
With honours being tossed around the entertainment business like confetti, with any actor over 50 the receipient of some kind of award, have comic book creators  been similarly honoured?  I've carried out a (very brief) check and it seems even Frank Hampson, the most likely if not the most deserving candidate didn't even get a gong.

Personally I'm against Royal honours - this being just one of the reasons....

Interesting point.

I was thinking about this a while ago, and I realised that many of the people I would wanted to nominate (I think there is a public nomination scheme), probably wouldn't want it.

I always thought it was a wasted opportunity not to create Alec Guinness OBI...

...but the miserable sod probably wouldn't have seen the funny side anyway.

"More villain than hero Dredd was created by Pat Mills and John Wager and illustrated by Brian Bolland to be the ultimate anti-hero."

This just doesn't seem right. It came directly from the Model and Collector's Mart site.
