New guy saying hello
« on: 29 January, 2010, 09:45:43 PM »
Hello all, excited to be here.  I’m in Cincinnati, Ohio and a recent recruit to thrill power.  I posted on another thread and thought I’d introduce myself.  Although not late to the party in terms of comics and comic art, I am a 2000AD newbie.  I feel a certain twinge that I wasn’t on board sooner, but that’s vastly eclipsed by the mind-blowing library of goodness that’s in front of me.

I’ll join those who can’t believe more credit isn’t given to the droids of 2000AD.  It’s been amazing to have read of League of Extraordinary Gentleman, for example, and after all this time to read Nemesis just  few weeks ago.  O’Neill’s art is just, breathtaking.  And the list goes on of all the folks we’ve (Americans that is) poached over the years (but you all know that.)

So I’m stocking up on the recent Rebellion reprints (Nemesis, Strontium, Robusters, and Dredd so far) and several newer trades (Defoe and Stickleback and Savage so far) and I have no plans to stop.  Utterly fantastic stuff. And just started getting the new progs via the monthly packs.  Also just purchased and started reading Thrill Power Overload, which has been really interesting. So as you can tell, I’m fully on board.  I’ll take any and all suggestions and sorry for the long post, but as you can tell, I’m excited to have found this treasure trove.

Hello Gert1033 and welcome to Tharg's. thrilling forum.
What a lucky person you are engaging in all those thrills in one prolonged hit, as you can see we are all jealous of you for this.
Stick around as we are a friendly lot. You never know someone may try to bum a fag off you, once you've settled in

Thanks to all of you.  Seems like a much more cordial board than the mainstream companies here.  And I should thank Dandontdare as he's the one who encouraged me to say hello.  Felt silly doing it, but it's nice to see a community like this.  And my wife, god love her, will be happy not to hear about Tharg for a bit.

Welcome, it's great to see another fellow American comic book fan take an interest in 2000AD.  Most just don't know what they're missing.   ;)

Nice to hear from you Gert1033.

As someone else, somewhere, heavens alone knows where, commented there seem to be few American new comers of late. Potentially this is great news and if its not just a coincidence might be a sign of something going right over there????
