Oh I forgot to make a joke about copying tooth artists' hard work, so I shan't.

Obviously this is Brian Bolland's classic image realised in 3D.

I've been wanting to have a good excuse to do this for about a year.
I learned a lot. I expect I'll redo it, applying what I've learned, and make it a lot better, and closer to Bolland's work of that era... though it's pretty close.

In the blinding glare of unfettered genius is my guess.

Inked on paper with brushes, something I haven't tried for years. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

(Based of course on prog 1643 cover by Leigh Gallagher. Respect.)

Bloody hell -- that's a bit of a late rush at the end there!

Voting thread will be along a little later on today, probably mid-afternoon -- I have a 27-page book to letter by about lunchtime!

If anyone wants to squeeze a last-minute entry in before then, I won't complain ... :-)

Cheers

My brain's woken up now.

Last year for one of the contests I tried several ideas and one of them was to extend the "Gaze" panel to a full figure shot. I had a pose that worked, but I needed my inking to improve before taking on Bolland! I'd look at the pic I did from time to time and think about how it'd make a good statue.
This contest was the ideal impetus.

I tried to keep it true to Bolland's image, and his depiction of the uniform at that time. The GAZE image translates scarily well to 3D space, and I know I can line it up even better as I had to rush a bit before the deadline, blasting through the cloak, eagle and hands which I'd left until last!

I'm looking forward to redoing it, and then sculpting the forms and details in zbrush.
Need to reapproach Fear's pose. I can make this really good. Oh, and I have a good idea how to do a McMahom Slaine, and an Ezquerra Stonty.

nice, well I've started mine, but I have to go out soon, so I probably won't get it finished, I've been sitting here for a while thinking that I want to do a comedy ABC Warriors one, but but with horror, and I couldn't think of how to do it, I've finally figured it out, and it probably wont get finished I don't mind though, it probably wouldn't have been that good. only just getting the hang of my graphics tablet, I planned to do it on there, but it went wrong, and due to circumstances at the moment I can only do it in pencil and scan to the pc, it really annoyed me

Why not work on it anyway and then post it in the general Art thread?

We'd love to see your ideas.

Revised entry, because I have some kind of deadline disorder.
