This is splendid news all around. Unfortunately I've spent much of the last 3 or 4 years importing rebellion's own trades, so things are looking a bit redundant for the foreseeable future. (Zombo and Harry 20 are pretty much the only two on my radar.) I already had to go through replacing many of the DC era trades (that got me into 2000AD), I am NOT going through that again.

But its nice to have the books actually printed and distributed over here, it should alleviate many of the distribution woes us Yanks occasionally have to deal with (still waiting on Cabs Inc vol.2 and Storming Heaven, Rebellion. Still.)  I personally think Rebellion should hook up with Image or Dark Horse and sell 2000AD itself over here through their distribution channels (premier status in Previews!), Either by sticking with a weekly format, or binding a month's worth of issues together in single monthly issue.

Again, would save many a headache just getting the damn thing. And bring the price down too boot. Ah.... dreams.

But I digress... By the way, I don't see any information on the all important question. One that often keeps me tossing and turning it night...

What will the spines look like?!

Diamond canceled Cabs 2 and Storming Heaven after orders were too low; you'll need to buy those off Amazon UK or some such.

As for the spines, I am all set to buy a new copy of The Meknificent Seven just as soon as I can confirm it'll match the rest of the set.  Don't let me down, Simon & Schuster design department!

Do the contents of the US ones match the UK ones exactly? I'm tempted to still get the UK ones based on the look of the covers of the US editions, but they are cheaper.

The new printing of the UK edition does, but who can say what could happen...

Saw Stainless Steel Rat in Forbidden Planet tonight. A nice looking collection but a bit pricey for what it is.
This fool got more comic books than a motherfucker!

Seems this is generating interest from over the Pond (although old news to us), Spread the Word:

Hate to say it, but neither Borders nor B&N have these in stores - they're online only.  B&N was willing to order a copy with no obligation to buy, so I'll see it next week and tell you what I think.

Picked up D.R & Quinch, it's brilliant.  More detailed discussion of the contents in the News forum.

Anyone else remember those american sized editions of the prog? It really annoyed me when the formatting didn't match up and the art was distorted!

I think it was under a 'Fleetway' banner - I will have to dig them out to make sure.

They were sold under the eagle banner for the american market then released over here. Dredd started at issue 15 in the UK.

I'm surprised an American Dredd written, drawn and coloured by an American based Graphic House never got going. :-*

The Warhammer 40 K Comic was fairly successful in the UK before it was shut down and the licence was picked up by the American based BOOM! studios in 2006 producing some good quality stuff.

I guess licencing, copyright and commercial issues have scuppured any attempts to produce an American Dredd exclusively for the American Comic book market. Maybe if the film does well they'll reconsider licencing though some might object to a very British icon being drawn say by Marvel or D.C artists but I suspects it's the only way they'll be able to sell old granite face to the mass of the American Comic book audience.

It didn't work last time.

Cheers!

Did they really produce a US Comic version of Dredd to compliment the 1995 film?

Who? What? Where? :o

That's one of two DC Dredd series from the time, and both were equally awful. One was more akin to British Dredd, with scripts by what appeared to be a very bored John Wagner. The other series was effectively a reboot, with a bizarrely rewritten backstory for Dredd (who was, as I recall, an utter psycho). Awful stuff without exception and not even worth reading if you can get copies for free.
