Ipad, who got one?
« on: 29 May, 2010, 12:37:27 PM »
I did! I've gone out and whacked one on my credit card this morning and I have to say it's rather nice. A bit smaller than I expected but I'm as excited as a bairn at Christmas anyway!

One question, and sorry to be an arse 'cos I know this has already been answered - Say I had a ew CBRs kicking around on my computer, is there any way I can get 'em onto the thing to read?

E-mail, or via a cloud service like MobileMe ... Dropbox has an iPhone client, and thus, I assume, an iPad one, which is excellent. I would imagine a Dropbox account (the basic one is free) would address quite a lot of the missing file management capacity of the iPad.

Cheers!

Had a look at one today...

The possibility of being able to buy a magazine (or comic) appeals, rather than having boxes of magazines, or shelves of TPBs does appeal.

If Rebellion for example, released an iPad version of a TPB as well, or back issues of magazines I'd be interested.

The big question for me, is if a company did that, what happens if the publisher goes bust, you've then possibly lost access to everything you've bought.

You need Comiczeal v4

http://www.bitolithic.com/comic-zeal-v4/

You can use iTunes to import cbr, cbz, cbi, zip  and rar files directly into Comic Zeal (drag & drop).

Cheers Marbles, I'll check that out today, and thanks,as ever, to Jim, though I'm not sure if that would have helped as the iPad can't read .cbrs straight out the box. I realise I may have missed something in your message though as I'm not as Mac savvy as I am PC.

And you're right DD, it is a lovely, lovely gadget. I don't think I've put it down since I got it, much to Mrs Pete's annoyance!

You fool Pete! They tricked you!

Nah, I'm sure I will curse when the next one comes out but I genuinely just got this for reading comics and surfing the net so it's more than good enough for me. I am a fool though  :)

Apparently Apple were not accepting cash payments for Ipads in shops but they changed their tune after complaints about this were received.

Ah. Sorry, Pete. I was just thinking about how you'd handle moving the files themselves. PJ will probably be along with a better answer, but Comic Reader Mobi seems to be as good a programme as any and has its own file-handling features.

Cheers!

I've been using comic zeal on my iPhone for ages and just bought comic zeal 4 for the iPad , I think it's a really good app, you can copy from your PC or Mac using the software on their site using your wifi or use the file sharing option in iTunes, I had a time locating this , it's under Ipad - Apps - File sharing.
I loved reading books and comic on my iPhone but the iPad takes it to another level

Cheers

Can anyone tell me what the options are for existing O2 customers?

I currently pay £35, didn't think I'd need mobile tethering - by the looks of it, I'd either have to pay an extra £10 or £15 to use 3G with an ipad (and then limited download), despite already having unlimited internet on my iphone?

Seems a bit harsh - obviously I wouldn't use the ipad on the go as much as a phone, but for commutes it would be quite nice, although not at an extra tenner on top of my iphone.

Thanks,

Steve

Two days ago, my Dad was lecturing me about financial responsibility because I went out to buy a couple DVDs. The next day, he bought a £500 iPad that he can't afford.

Oh the irony.

On the cpmics thing, Rebellion should take a serious look at joining in with the Comics lot. It's clearly the only comics app (for legal ones at any rate) anyone gives a crap about, and it has the backing of a lot of majors and indies. It'd be great to have Dredd collections available alongside Walking Dead, Atomic Robo and classic Marvel fare.
