DREDD Movie Poster
« on: 04 June, 2010, 12:58:14 AM »
What in your opinion would make for a decent Dredd Movie Poster ?

Baring in mind it has to be seen by the masses, attract non Dredd followers and to that end be visually appealing enough to pull the punters in yet stay true to the Dredd ethos.

I was just thinking about this yesterday. I agree a close up on the badge would be cool for a teaser poster. Or perhaps even a poster showing Dredd's chest with the badge clearly showing and Dredd holding up his gun which would give people a hint of Sci-fi.

Ezquerra art. Seriously. Only as a teaser poster though.

Thats a pretty neat idea seeing as the main man was responsible for the main man, so to erm speak. Would be a touching tribute to him not to mention an awesome collectible :)

A popster featuring 'proper art', not the horrible photoshop rubbish that constitutes movie poster art these days.
Maybe Dredd on his lawmaster with a view of Mega-City.
Ezquerra would be great or maybe Jock's got a poster up his sleeve, as he's doing the pre-production art.

Pay Mick McMahon and Brian Bolland to work on designs together for a couple of days, see what they come up with and go from there.

DREDD on Lawmaster flying through the air towards you pumping more bullets at your p.o.v than Mexicans do at nightclubbers, Nightstick held aloft ready to crunch down on your skull with Mega City 1 in background burning and exploding.

BREAK THE LAW AND HE'LL BREAK YOU,CREEP! written in brutal Armour Piercing typeface somewhere as an enormous Swastika rises over the Mega city  skyline.

Too liberal an interpretation maybe? ;)

Personally I liked one of the Cliff Robinson covers where Dredd is cropped so close it's just focusing on a glove or a boot etc.

I quite like the idea of just having a perp getting his face ground against a wall and all you see of Dredd is a shadow and a glove.

Not necessarily the best for a movie poster - but would love to see Jock draw up some ideas, as his covers are so eye-catching.

Would be better than the endless generic photoshop jobs that we usually see for film posters.

It should be just a gloved hand brandishing a daystick.

Or even this:

That'd be cool but it'll look as though they were trying to copy one of the Dark Knight posters.
