Ok, so I'm a HUGE fan of Zack Snyder. I loved his Dawn of the Dead, 300 was very cool and Watchmen was about a good an adaptation of the book as I think anyone could expect. Actually, that sounds dismissive.... but I've talked up my love for that movie enough in the Watchmen thread.

You know what really sad. I'm watching his kick ass trailer with like dragons and WWII planes and samurai and sexy lasses in a movie that looks frankly very very exciting and what am I really thinking...

From what I've heard about Sucker Punch, I can see it running into controversy - there's something a little off about its portrayal of mentally ill young women.

And yeah, the movie looks like a live action Manga, but sometimes I enjoy a good manga movie so no problems there. Imagine it's gonna have all the depth of 300, which wasnt much

that looks pretty cool, if the visuals are mind shattering i dont mind a less than coherant story (see any mind-fuck asian movie like Vs, Tokyo Gore Police and the like).  This looks like a Holywood big budget version of that style of movie, I'm there.  And sweet sweet looking young lasses too.

Sod misogyny - I'm really looking forward to this. I loved the Dawn remake and 300, although my best mate did walk out of the cinema during the love scene. Yeah, the hideously over the top action and dialogue and stylised gore were, well, over the top but then it's all there in the original comic (perhaps not the slo-mo, but you know what I mean). But it was the visuals, the landscapes, in 300 that I loved the most, and Suckerpunch looks very similar.

Plus it's got a bunch of incredibly cute girls in it.

Its never easy fitting a film's plot into a trailer and the story behind this film would make that almost impossible without silly voiceovers or captions - I'm happy with a high octane kick to the geek ganglions (with a Lords of Acid soundtrack).

Snyder's synopsis:

Set in the 1950s, it tells the story of Baby Doll (Browning), who is trying to hide from the pain caused by her evil stepfather and lobotomy. She ends up in mental institution in Brattleboro, Vermont  and while there she starts to imagine alternative reality. She plans to escape from that imaginary world but to do that she needs to steal five objects before she is caught by a vile man. She has 5 days to escape before being lobotomized. In order to cope with the situation, she enters the hyper-real world of her imagination, and the lines between reality and dream begin to blur. She is joined with friends who are inmates from the institution. Lessons learned in the said fantasy world could help the girls escape their real-world fate

There is nothing in the essence of that paragraph that cannot be conveyed in two minutes, and it doesn't have to be "plot", instead they settle for flash frames and loud music.
