I think the recent pipe purchase was an attempt to get a soot beard to make up for the lack of real one

Thanks for the nice comments.

Hi David- did see you in costume and it looked fab- was stuck behind my desk pimping my Who book but did wave drunkenly to you in the hotel bar very late at night.

I remember! Cheers, Mike.

Fantastic!  Now where's Octobriana?

I'll have to produce pictures, won't I? Okay then: to follow. She's wearing the costume again on Friday, so give it a week.

Spoken like a man who has never cultivated a beard...

Thanks for the sympathy vote, Rich!  :D
I did say on Saturday that if I were really serious about cosplay I would have shaved, but I still have to be me in real life, and in real life I have a beard. I love my beard! I may shave it off one day in the future for just a day if I ever had a really, really good reason for looking like Johnny Alpha.

Oh yes! The Leela from Doctor Who costume worn by an attractive young lady called Sophie was a real treat.

Nah, I was talking to Terry, Leela's boyfriend- gutted that she only came second. Winner was the girl in the black and white costume with the Aztec-like head dress (no idea who the character was meant to be)

We had that conversation in the bar. She was Midna from Zelda, Twilight Princess, although to be honest the only clue for me was the head-dress

The girl dressed as 'Midna' was very pleasant to chat to. Deborah was quite taken with the girl's costume because she was very into Legend of Zelda on the Wii over Christmas. The fabric paint on the arms of her skintight suit was very effective (what kind of sports suit is that, by the way?). As for Johnny Alpha, the judging panel had a bit of a downer on a costume that incorporated a helmet that (gasp!) one didn't make oneself.

"LOL"

By the way, I'm excited to see dates advertised for next year's Cardiff Expo, 25-26th February 2012!

Anyone going to this again in February?

I've moved from Ireland to Swansea for college so I'm looking forward to this.
