Barney updates

This is mostly for Wake I imagine, but hey might as well make it a thread. Feel free to throw some database updates in here, folks.

Judge Death is featured in the Judge Anderson story Beyond the Void, from 2000AD Progs 612 to 613. This is a legit encounter from the man, he even get to see in his head as he narrates.

Thanks. I can only update the BARNEY database which I know is now seriously out of date, but please do post corrections here. Small edits are easy, but the mammoth task of adding the past 9 months of progs keeps getting put off.

Cheers,

Wake

Wake, if other folks wanted to email you the data to populate the database for Barney, would you be cool with that?

There are a good few folks here who would be happy to, and able to, provide you with the required info.

What format, field names are required?

And someone here was gesturing in the direction of being interested in the Tornado Special details. Ive since looked it out, and am ready to upload the info, if anyone wants it.

My correction:

Barney says:

Quote
Deus Ex Machina Book 1 8 episodes (Progs 852 to 859)
Script: John Smith, Artist: Paul Marshall, Colour: Gina Hart, Letters: Elitta Fell

Deus Ex Machina Book 2 8 episodes (Progs 873 to 880) 48 pages
Script: John Smith, Artist: Paul Marshall and Richard Elson

Going through them you have:

Deus ex Machina Book I - art: Mark Buckingham (#852-855) and Paul Marshall (#856-859); colours: Gina Hart (#856-859); letters: Ellie De Ville (#852-857) and Elitta Fell (#858-860)

Deus ex Machina Book II - art: Paul Marshall (#873-879) and Richard Elson (#877-880 - in 877 the art is credited to "Paul Marshall/Elson/Cox", then switches to "Richard Elson/Marshall/Cox" in 878-879 and then "Richard Elson/Baskerville/Cox" - presumably Stephen Baskerville); colours: Gina Hart (#873) and Dondie Cox (#874-880); letters: Elitta Fell (#873-874, 877-880) and Caroline Steeden (#875-876)

There is also some Barney discussion here as well:

http://www.2000adonline.com/forum/index.php/topic,29583.0.html

It also includes offers to help with the updating which might be what you need to get the gruntwork done updating the prog and Meg details.

Good stuff. It'd be worth casting your eye over the indexes elsewhere too and seeing if there is anything you can add:

http://comicbookdb.com/title.php?ID=19893
http://www.comics.org/series/34801/

I also changed the title as it is specific to Barney, although some changes might also apply to the current database here it is best to keep things focused.

Ooh. I see Barney's had the last eight months worth of covers dumped into his warm embrace: http://www.2000ad.org/?zone=covers&page=progs&FirstProg=1666&LastProg=1715&MaxProg=1715

An omission I came across the other week. PJ Maybe hasn't been tagged as appearing in The Gingerbread Man (Meg 261-263)

As Bolt intimated, if you've got a standard format for the content data I have a lot of it to hand.
This fool got more comic books than a motherfucker!

Good stuff. See what Wake says here about adding data to Barney:

Thanks to the Cosh, the progs on BARNEY are now back up to date, and he will be working on the Megs soon. The Corinthian is putting together a spread sheet for some of the missing specials. The main gap at the moment is the graphic novel section. Is anyone interested in taking this on? For each book I'd need some of the publication details and a list of the story titles reprinted in it (exact title according to BARNEY, plus whether is comes from 2000AD, Megazine or Special).

Cheers,

Wake

A correction for you:

The B. Williamson listed as the artist for Judge Dredd in prog 737:
http://2000ad.org/?zone=prog&page=profiles&choice=737

Is clearly the same Brian Williamson that drew 2 Future Shocks for Mark Millar (there is even a Muppet Show-style link between the Dredd and the first Future Shock, which helpfully underlines this):
http://2000ad.org/?zone=droid&page=thrills&Comic=2000AD&Field=Artist&choice=brianw

Everything else seems to match up with this:
http://www.comicbookdb.com/creator.php?ID=3983

So there aren't any other B. Williamson credits lurking around that need to be fixed.

sad to see the last revival didn't last. Barney is the best thing associated with 2000ad.
If I'd known it was harmless I would have killed it myself.
