Much as I'd like them to fix Gollum in Fellowship (IIRC the design wasn't finalised so the version we see looks nothing like the Gollum we see in the subsequent films), and there unboubtedly is a bit of dodgy compositing going on in all three films that could also be touched up, it's a slippery slope and we don't want to end up with another Star Wars situation.

Do we see anything more than his eyes and fingers? I never noticed a discrepancy between Fellowship and the later two.

I'm very happy with my special edition boxed set and have no intention of shelling out for a new version with different actors green-screened in. If it ever happens, which I think is unlikely. Peter Jackson has always struck me as a man of integrity, unlike that cash-grabbing tool Lucas.

He does look a bit different but you're right. It's such a small glimpse that you can get away with it.

Yeah, it's not a biggie - it's just that the FotR Gollum (what little we see of him) looks way more cartoony and obviously cgi - bigger eyes I think. His anatomy also looks a lot more exaggerated when we see him from afar. Watching the Appendices, it seems like it was decided during production of The Two Towers to much more heavily base Gollum's physical appearance on that of Andy Serkis, and the result was much more convincing.

What a Film Set they've built.  John Howe AND Alan Lee handling the concept design. Shaping up to be something special.

Looks like Morgoth's foul labours in the foetid depths beneath the fortress of Angband have born a twisted fruit more seductive than the silmarils themselves :

It's the Beleaguring of Tordelback, I tells ya.  A Elbereth Gilthoniel, why can't they leave me alone?

Heh. Knowing who Elbereth Gilthoniel is... that made no sense. Which I guess was probably the point.
