San Diego Comic-Con 2011
« on: 03 February, 2011, 02:58:31 AM »
Plans are afoot in the Carroll household to attend this year's SDCC! Anyone else here hoping to make it? It looks like it'll be a pretty good one, with some top 2000AD folks already in the Special Guests list: Alan Davis, Dave Gibbons, John Higgins and Grant Morrison.

I'll be there next year, Mike. My wife and I went every year when we lived in the States. Once we had lunch with a pair of Klingons and a boatfull of Sailor Moon girls. It was grand.

I'm of a mind to try and get to a US convention this year in pursuit of work with some of the larger publishers. San Diego is looking good, since it would give me a tax-deductible reason to fly to the same coast that my ex-pat mate Mel now lives on!

Cheers

Jim, I'll be back in Philly and settled by October - if you, or anyone, needs a place to stay or just to visit, you're welcome. The train runs up and down the East Coast. If you go to next summer's SD Comic Con, I'll see you there!

Plenty of droids, not many currently in the prog though (but a chance to track down some who make rarer appearances in Blighty), however a Mills/Langley combo is interesting and I see Neil Roberts is on the list too, along with Liam Sharp:

Charlie Adlard
Ian Edginton
Mike Carey
Paul Cornell
Alan Davis
Andy Diggle
mark Farmer
Duncan Fegredo
Simon Furman
Dave Gibbons
Neil Googe
Bryan Hitch
Peter Hogan
Rian Hughes
Clint Langley
Andy Lanning
David Lloyd
Tony Luke - what is he up to these days?
Pat Mills
Grant Morrison
Kevin O'Neill
Sean Phillips
Steve Pugh
Neil Roberts
Liam Sharp
Simon Spurrier
Bryan Talbot

You missed a couple, Emp: John Higgins (his name isn't on the Bleeding Cool list, but he's one of the special guests) and... wait for it... Michael Carroll!

Is he that Scotch bloke who writes Captain Dreadd?  Or is that Garth Ennis?

Me and the wife are doing a trip of California for our honeymoon this year ending in a 4 day stop in San Diego, the 4 days just happen to be the exact 4 days comic-con is on. (I had nothing to do with that little coincidence i swear lol).

We've got our 4 day tickets booked. Nice to know there will be some 200AD fans making the trip.

Boo Cook's going to be there as well, more on the back on Elephant Man as opposed to 2000 AD.

All right, guys... Leonia and I are departing very early on Monday morning for San Diego. Anyone who wants me to pick up a Dredd shirt for them, get in touch ASAP. No promises that I'll be able to get your desired size: for all I know, they might sell out in seconds. Also, first-come, first-served: There's a limit to the amount of stuff we can carry home... Also, I'm already picking up two shirts for fine members of this board, so in the event that we're only allowed to buy one each, then, well that's tough! :)

Also: if anyone wants buy one of John Higgins' Watchmen Portfolios and have me pick it up for them, get in touch even sooner!
