I haven't looked forward to a game this much for a long time  :D.

There is a good chance that the game will be released early, about 17:00 today in fact. Valve have been running an ARG with clues left in other games and on the Aperture Science website, including this count down timer - http://www.aperturescience.com/a/b/c/d/g/h/abcdgh/

Of course, it could point to some other Portal 2 related event but I understand that other clues in the ARG point to an early release too!

Just pre-ordered and am pre-loading it now. The fact that PC users are getting it a weekend early is poetic justice. But also sucks cause I have to work all weakend.

Portal was one of the finest crafted science fiction video games of all time. To say I have some rather high expectations for the sequel is an understatement.

If you've never played Portal (madness), if you're a fan of 2000AD at all you'll love it (Half Life also. Speaking of... how that Portal 2 is finished... will we see HL2 Episode 3? Cause god DAMN its been a long time coming)

Just as long as it comes with a catchy theme tune I can download on iTunes. Portal's "Still Alive" was fantastic.

Still Alive is my daughters favourite tune, she is only five and asks for the singing robot song every time we are in the car  :D.

Didn't valve release the entire Portal soundtrack for free last time? I hope they do the same for this one.

That's part of the appeal with this for me too, it's only now and then a game comes along that Amy gets into but she loved Portal and is pretty excited about this (on the proviso she gets to be the squat fat robot). Don't think we've ever played anything co-op, hopefully it won't lead to a break-up  :D

Watching the trailers my only worry is with all the elements they added I might not be smart enough to play this one!

I must be in the minority because I thought the original Portal was pretty good, but over-hyped. It was enjoyable enough to play through but it's not a game I ever felt the need to go back to and I didn't get as excited about it as everyone else.

By the end of it's short running time I thought they had pretty much exhausted the possibilities of the concept - I fear that expanding it out to a 'proper' game length may be a stretch too far, and bringing more and more elements into play will dilute the purity of the relatively simple original concept.

In all honesty I'd much rather Valve just got on with making Half Life 3!

OK, so it didn't release early but there is a chance to get it released ahead of time by playing the Potato sack promotion games to reboot Glados  :).

It's being tracked here -

http://www.aperturescience.com/glados@home/

I have Amnesia and Killing floor on that list so I'll do my bit later  ;).

Put my pre-order in yesterday, Gamestation seemed to have the best deal (pre-order and get a fiver off). Plus the missus has chipped in for it, score!

Coz of the hype I got the first game which I missed originally

Loving it but after a few hours I'm pretty sure I'm at the end. I've confronted the "voice" and am trying to take her out. That said its been a unique and fun ride so no complaints and wont be able to resist the second one

I completely agree with this. It may be a good game but it is not great in the way that Oblivion or Half Life 2 definitely are.

I also think this kind of thing happens more and more in games, perhaps as I get older. World Of Goo is one, Rez and Ico were others.

Portal is like Braid. And other small indy games that have a ton of polish and great style and exceptional game play. Gotta remember, Portal was like an extra that came in the Orange Box. Something most of us were actually buying for Team Fortress 2 and Half Life 2 Episode 2. Portal was a freebie, that absolutely dominated most pay games at the time of its release. Valve are geniuses at marketing.

I've beaten Portal 2 (at least the single player mode), and I liked it. A lot. There is a lot to love between the humor, the world design, the puzzles, and the world building. I'm eager to play more Co-Op, as it seems to be full of very challenging puzzles.

I did think the Single Player was a little on the short side, and lacked in difficulty in latter puzzles. But it looks like Co-Op is picking up the slack there, so Single Player remains a great cinematic experience.

I can't wait, didn't even realize how into Portal I was until I had trouble sleeping last night with anticipation  :-[

It may have been all the caffeine I drank at late night rehearsal as opposed to anticipation actually. Still, I'm excited. Was playing through some of the challenge rooms in Portal: Still Alive last week and was reminded just how amazingly satisfying the whole mechanic is, and I love that it comes out today and not tomorrow (cheers Jesus!).
