What's this I thought? A pre midday delivery on a Saturday by mr postie? Awesome. First time since I moved house. A nice meaty drop too, could it be a Prog/Meg combo perhaps. Nope. Just shit from the gas board and not a comic in sight. Have to wait till Tuesday now I guess.

My mail was a bit better than yours:

Some forms I didn't need for a transfer of pension contributions,
An alumni newsletter from a university I attended and despise (could be any one of four),
An invitation to a gallery exhibition by an artist who apparently can neither paint nor draw,
An offer of insurance for our fridge freezer which is now out of one-year warranty,
And a cheque for some work I did last month.

No Prog. I'll put it down to Good Friday getting in the way of distribution.

I got a cheque in the post today for £100. Apparently this is something the DWP do when you sign off the dole and go into work, to help bridge the gap between your last benefit payment and your first wage packet.

Who knew? Certainly not me. Nice little surprise though, 'cos the gap was looming like a big fuck-off loomy thing and I had no idea how I was gonna manage.

So anyway, the postie is alright by me.

The letter accompanying the cheque mentioned that I had 'met the conditions', whatever the conditions are.

The letter also mentioned that £100 is 'the lower rate of Job Grant', so presumably if you meet certain other undisclosed 'conditions', you get a bit more. I wish I knew what they were, I'd have tried harder.

Prog 1730 arrived today. Yayy.
For it to be this late I can only assume Denise does read the board and has pre-empted a request for a new prog which I would have sent today. So if this is the case then it is a big thank you and keep up the good work, otherwise keep up the good work.

I'm a newcomer to 2000ad and this would have been my second issue of the book. But alas the post office itself doesnt have a copy on the shelf for me this week!!! Subscription please!
