Prog 1731
« on: 22 April, 2011, 08:48:08 PM »
Saw it at Nottingham's Foridden Planet today, was stunned it there on Friday???
It good, but the best of prog is Nikolai Dante by John Burns in one-off strip as it catch up all events that happens in history of Nikolai's till his first feature in 2000AD! Sort of brilliant catch-up for new readers! But big disappointed is that the last page is on the back of the prog!!!
No! Please! Not that! Not-- THE SCORPIONS!

Have we come to this?

Not even "I've got it but I haven't read it" but "I saw it in a shop"?

It's not clear to me whether Goaty just saw it in the shop (in which case I fully endorse your BOO) or actually bought one. In which case, fair play to him.

Grrrrrrrrr, no Saturday prog for the second week running. And it's a fucking bank holiday so I'll have to wait till Tuesday.

Not happy. Double length Dante AND Ben Willsher back on Dredd, I was REALLY looking forward to this 'un.

Well mine arrived bright and early once again. Hooray for the Royal Mail!

Unfortunately, this calls Goaty's Friday Prog claim into question as the artist on Dante is Simon Fraser not John Burns. The story itself is a decent recap of saga so far although it seems like a bit of an odd time to have it.

Some stuff happens to thicken the plot in this week's Red Seas which is good to see after a bit too much reminiscing and aimless wandering.

Mike Carroll graduates to a multi-part Dredd story and this setup episode makes good use of a bit of Dredd history while making a crack about his age. Classic riposte in the final panel. Nice to see Ben Willsher back on Dredd too. I thought his art on The Skinning Room was fantastic and this is in the same vein. He does an interestingly distressed Judge uniform.

This fool got more comic books than a motherfucker!

I was torn (pardon the pun) between Dredd and Dante this week.

I saw the secret in Flesh coming, or rather I thought 'it'd be good if...' and turned out to have speculated correctly.

That's a bloody good Dredd story. I can't wait for the next part. Michael Carroll is producing some amazing work lately.

I loved Dante, too. It should be in the prog forever!
