I feel I'd like to know more about Dredd's doubts and the Judda but from reading this link http://www.amazon.co.uk/Judge-Dredd-Case-Files/lm/ROIRFQQEUDPI/ref=cm_srch_res_rpli_alt_1 it seems like that would involve reading CF8-13, which I can't afford at the moment. Any ideas about selectivity?

Well as the maker of the list in question let's see if I can't help you out. Dredd's doubts are indeed a long, slow-burning story thread that begin around about CF8 onward, but if you want to be really selective then then you'd be fine with just CF11, 12 and 13. Those three books contain everything Judda/Kraken-related pre-Necropolis - though you'll enjoy Oz (CF11) a lot more if you've also read at least Chopper's previous story (CF9).

That's exactly the kind of help I needed, thanks a million. And for the two Amazon lists, which were useful. The only problem now is how to excuse the costs.
I kinda like the fat....uh...the fat...uhm, you know, like an arm holding a baby's apple kind of wurst.

Well you can tell I’ve been away from the forums for a while can’t you?! I return to find all those lovely replies to my post. I’m loving my subscription to death. I’ve cut back on a lot of the U.S stuff and find it a really nice balance of reading throughout the week. Dirty Frank has been my favourite character this year!

Welcome to the mad world of thrillpower. You might find these two threads useful, in which we discussed Dredd recommendations for newcomers / converts.

On a non-Dredd front, The Complete Bad Company collection has just been released... I am biased, because it's my favourite strip ever, but that would certainly be well worth a look.

I've been away from 2000AD for about 20 years and found this thread helpful in giving suggestions on how to catch up. I have fond memories of the early multi-prog Dredd stories like Cursed Earth, Judge Child & Apocalypse War. Joe Dredd has definitely aged!

And I remember enjoying Bad Company with Kano and the weird ending (unless it reappeared in the last two decades).
