Yep, when I had a brief word with Kev O'Neill at a signing in Brighton and invited him to have a go at the art comp he said that "Al" and himself were pretty much luddites and didn't use the internet.

See, i dont believe a word of that. I reckon they've got some sort of a special internet, complete with a special facebook, for their own personal use. They just dont tell us about it. It's probably black and silver, instead of white and blue. And instead of 'likes' there's a 'this doth please me' button.

What's all this i hear of a dodgem logic movie, by the way?

He's already involved in games using his alter ego of Jeff Minter......

I can announce here that, purely for kicks, I have actually started work on a Halo Jones text adventure game, using free adventure game building software Quest Development Kit. Had the idea years ago but have just got round to doing it.

Not sure how long it will take or how it will be legitimately available but it will be set in The Hoop, covering the first book. If I run out of ideas I'll maybe set up a group to help contribute or continue on to other books.

Is your programme anything like the GAC for the speccy back in the 80's. I started doing my own adventure game on that but got bored too quickly.

I wrote a GAC game (actually I wrote a few) but the one I put most work into concerned a comic-strip character I used to draw as a kid, and his adventures on an abandoned space-station. I was quite proud of it (even if, in retrospect, some of the puzzles were very obscure.)

I don't know about old programming systems but this one seems very easy to use and  haven't found anything impossible to do so far, though I don't know yet if I can have characters wandering round. Some early adventure games such as The Hobbit seemed to be infuriatingly unhelpful regarding descriptions and geography; I'm aiming toward a Hitch-hikers Guide/Snowball adventure vibe.

Thought this was interesting development, looks like while he's unhappy with adapting his comics to other mediums he might well be working on something cross-media with a game component. Curious.

I don't see what's curious about it really. The lovely Alan Moore's already done gag cartoons, serialized comics, graphic novels, prose novels, edited a magazine, performed music experimental and novelty, made a TV documentary and countless appearances on radio shows etc. Why wouldn't he work on a videogame as well? Douglas Adams worked on three or four.

This reminds me actually; I'm sure last year I read he was planning a project with Doseone...

You mean this -

My mate Tom owns Lex Records and meets Alan about once a month. They're working on a SECRET PROJECT but I've promised to keep my mouth shut about the details...
