The thing that gave the spy away was when he said
"Ain't no more smoky joe, she's fluffed off his Hi-De-Ho!"

Did anyone else think the 3riller turned a bit Benny Hill towards the end of the episode.

Very strong prog indeed, me hearties!

Dredd then Savage hold the top spots for me. Having Wagner & MacNeil is always a treat and this was lovely. Savage is by far my favourite Pat Mills story of late and Patrick Goddard's art is just the business.

Very interested to see how 3rillers turns out and if it leads to any full series.

Anyway, very pleased, very pleased indeed!

I'm not quite sure what gave away the spies in "Savage". Did the chap do the dance wrong?

Yeah must admit I just assumed they got the lyrics wrong. It was a good bit of writing I thought though, as it was only when I got to the end I thought, hold on a minute...

When actually reading it it was perfectly clear that something the song and the dance was wonky even though I didn't quite get the specifics it didn't matter.

Simple: Charlie don't surf and Volgs can't dance.

I believe years of Cossack Dancing have fundamentally resturctured their muscles and tendons, so they can no longer properly shake a leg in complex, fully-vertical dance routines even when egged on by a fine filly.

I assume the big finale of the instalment will involve a dance-off - Bill Savage pops some fresh moves and the Volgs get served. Word to your mommas, homes.
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

Why has 3hrillers got that 3 in there? (I really dislike this sort of thing - see also 5ive and L!ve TV)

You put that one down to the Jackson 5ive.

When I saw what was lined up in this weeks prog I wasn't looking forward to it that much. I was expecting blanched and bland colouring from Ant Williams, didn't know what to expect with 3rillers and wibble in Savage.

I was more than pleasantly surprised to find Sin/Dex coloured with much more substantiating depth and was reminded of Dan Abnett's cocksure action pacing.

Then, in Savage, reminded of how utterly fantastic Pat Goddard's B/W art is and the usually under-rated skill of Mills'.

3rillers was a refreshing return to a Bishop era, with McRae doing far more controlled and composed artwork. The story itself a morally questionable protagonist meeting  his back-log of comeuppances. A run at a regular theme really. So what is our 2000ad writer going to surprise us with?

Zombo? Just excellent. Hilarious boss man stuff. Had me laughing again and again at what really, is the same joke. Expertly balanced  humour and extreme gore.  Some would even say, it's a sort of "acquired taste "

Dredd? Bravissimo! This is a perfectly centred piece of collaboration.  It's got a real established villain, great artwork and the luxuriant Mr Wagner setting up a fast punch in the guts of a story.

I restarted my subs with this.  first prog in 6 months.

Loved it.  PJ was great, Savage great, the rest was fine.

Overall a nice way to come back.

I think that parody of Rumsfeld (in Zombo) is Ewing's most successful celebrity parody in the strip to date. Also, It had never really occured to me that the Droogs in Kubrick's Clockwork Orange look kinda like morris dancers

It was a pleasant surprise to see Danny Trejo in Dredd.

Dredd strip - art very good - I especially liked the ISO - BLOCK Guard uniform variants. Story seemed recycled but the dialogue was fresh and spot on; paradoxically.

Sin Dex - lacklustre generally.

Savage - Pat Goddard's B/W art was great but the story didn't grip me.

3Riller - apart from the Jesus/ballerina line which I LOLed at I found this very tame and the art adequate - with signs of brilliance peeking through - perhaps the art was rushed?.

Zombo - very nice art, creepy morris dancer but there wasn't much more to it. Maybe will improve in pt 2?
