Yes! But Noooooooo Prog here - bastiches! Maybe he shouldn't be delivering heeeeeeeeeeeere!

Does it wax lyrical about Prog 1732 & mention Linda Lusardi?

If confirmed it will be my first appearance in the Prog since 1642 waaaay back in 2009. Is it letter of the week? is it? go on say it is, even if it isn't so I can be happy for 2 days at least!

Hurrah!

Better not be a trick!

Vzzbux - gonna have to agree to disagree - I thought it was a standout cover this week: a stock dredd pose but fresh and raw. Can we please see Garry Brown on a strip soon Thargy?

Buttman: Linda Lusardi lasviciousness confirmed. You're leading the lettercol but not letter of the week.

As for the prog, Zombo made me laugh out loud several times, Dredd has me stoked for future episodes, SinDex was exciting as hell and Savage is dark and absorbing, like a lake of oil. I also enjoyed the second part of 3rillers, which is full of good ideas.

Great, great, great prog.

So this is only the second Prog to fall through my letterbox. My yearly sub started with #1740. The last time I was a regular reader must be about 20 years ago and the only strip I can remember from that time was Ace Trucking so this is pretty much a noobs perspectve:

Loved the cover, The limited colour scheme and raw sketchy style are really eye catching.

Dredd: No idea what PJ Maybe was up to in earlier stories, but I'm already hooked on this. Can't wait for more

SinDex: Is certainly thrill packed but I've no idea who these guys are or the history behind them and I sense it might make more sense if I was up to speed on their past exploits. As a noob, probably the weakest in the prog, but only because it leaves me wondering what it's all about.

Savage: Brilliantly drawn can't wait for more

3rillers: getting into it now but not a huge fan of the art style

Zombo: this is the brilliant and the standout piece in a strong prog. What twisted mind came up with the Zombo character? Really funny. Can't wait for next week

All in All better than last weeks for me and Mega pleased I got my sub  :)

ps: the letters page is bonkers

No idea what PJ Maybe was up to in earlier stories, but I'm already hooked on this.

A genius serial killer, he offed most of his family as a child but was never even suspected. He went on to kill thousands before faking his death - he even used a mind-controlled judge to swap his DNA records so that Dredd was convinced he was dead. The only love of his life was Inga, a  sex-android he'd been given a a teenager. In more recent years, he swapped identities with reclusive philanthropist Byron Ambrose and ran for mayor of Mega City One. Even Dredd had to admit he was one of the best mayors the city had ever had, but still voted to execute him when he was discovered. The vote went against him - and here we are.

I'm loving this story,  but security is a little poor at that iso-block. Is it run by the same people who kept deciding Mean Angel was cured?  :D

Sin/Dex hasn't found it's feet yet, and some of the dialogue felt a little odd this week.

Still loving Savage. The threerillers is very good, but I still feel these 3 parts could have been squeezed into a good 5 page futureshock

Zombo is just magnificent in every respect. So many laughs on every page and Zombo's expression every time the shock-pants are activated is priceless!
What twisted mind came up with the Zombo character?
Al Ewing - and yes he is!

Oh and Buttonman - wash your mind out, you dirty old man!

The Dredd has left me a little nervous, that can't be a good sign.

This issue was a bit of a step down after the highs of the last couple of weeks. Not that its a bad prog by any standards just a step down a peg or two. Savage and Sinister Dexter maintained their high standards and were the weeks highlights. Closely followed by Tharg's 3riller which really stepped up after last weeks opener. In many ways I feel this episode would have served as a better opening part and left last weeks feeling a little like padding. However taken on its own merits it was a really great episode.

The Dredd and the Zombo, however have left me feeling a little concerned. In and of themselves while neither was at the heights of their respective opening parts they were both perfectly enjoyable episodes. Both written by writers I trust and so I'm sure my fears are misplaced, they are there however.

With Zombo it was more wacky fun. Last weeks episode got the balance right between fun and horror. This week, worrying with the return of the led moved things backwards the camp humour that while in the second story was fun isn't the long term route I want to see this story go down. Al Ewing has said in interview that he's conscious of that and whats this story to return the balance more to the horror, closer to the first story. This episode in isolation didn't do that at all but I clearly need to give it more time. On top of that, well actually part of that is the fact that the 'You're fired' 'gag' has run its course already and while fun last week has become an irritation already. Since however its a character point of one of the central figures of the current story I'm not sure what can be done.

Likewise the Dredd will hopefully leave by fears tattered but reading this weeks episode I found myself hoping that Wagner has a bit of a twist up his sleeve. I really hope that PJ doesn't escape and one of the main protagonists in the up coming epic. Returning him so soon after the last epic feels to soon and his escape, though wonderfully set up felt last week in execution this week felt very contrived. Still in Wagner we trust and I'll wait to see what he has up that sleeve of his for next week but taking too much notice of these fears.

Good prog.

A pedant would point out that he actually picked Inga up in the middle Americas while masquerading as Don Pedro Julian Montez luckily for you I am not that man...

Did he? I bow to your wisdom - was there another story about a spoiled teenager being given a sex-mek for his birthday
