I got mine today, and I thought it was quality cover-to-cover, complete with a classic Droid Life and a very eye-catching cover (not the equal of last week's, but then little is).
The Dredd is maybe a little slow, but then these 'prelude to epic' stories always are, and there's buckets of character stuff and state-of-the-Department here - and did Joe Dredd actually put a comforting hand on Hennesey's shoulder? WTDrokk?
The 3riller is good stuff, very clearly told and a good model for the type of stories this slot can handle (beginning, middle, end). I don't like to use words like this, but while the underlying art is grand, the colouring job is simply appalling. B&W would have been infinitely preferable to this ugly mess.
While Pat and I obviously share a love of Snatch (take that as you will), the dialogue in Savage continues to be embarrassingly stilted*. Just 'cause it works for Slough Feg... The plot on the other hand continues to be great. I have huge respect for what Pat has done with the setup of Invasion, exploring the idea of occupation and resistance from so many angles, from the violent heroics of the original, to the somber contemporary realism of the early Savages, to the '80's cop show, to heist capers, to alternate earth SF, to the mix of Allo Allo and ABC Warriors he has going now. Truly the man never sits still, and equally truly not every angle is going to suit everyone equally. I salute him for it.
Sin/Dex moves along apace, with dialogue that's still as close to poetry as 2000AD gets. I'm still curious as to what the point of the 6 months of lost time is... I'd be fairly certainly it's not just a random detail.
Zombo is, well, oh my. Consistently the top strip in the Prog this whole run, and I'm not generally its biggest fan.
*Exception being Scooty's last words, which are of course ripped from the pages of recent history...
