Warhammer 40k: Space Marine
« on: 22 August, 2011, 11:02:28 AM »
Been looking forward to this videogame for a while (it seems to have been in development for many years now).

Basically looks like Gears of War set in the 40k universe. I have a fondness for Games Workshop as I was obsessed with it as a kid, though I lost touch with it all many, many years ago when I became more interested in painting my own pictures than little metal and plastic figures!

It's out Sep 6th, but apparently the demo is out tomorrow - anyone going to give it a go?

there's also a sort of connected downloadable title, Kill Team - anyone tried that?

Is it a FPS by any chance?

It's a third person shooter/brawler - a bit like Gears of War, but less cover-based and more hand to hand combat focused as I understand it.

It's made by the same people who made the Dawn of War games I think.

Kill Team is a more simple twin-stick shooter, primarily built around co-op play.

'I AM WAR' ...now where could they have pinched that from?  ;)
I will name him Tharg, and I will hug him and pet him and squeeze him.

Another one on my pre-order list.
Was pretty hyped about it until I saw a playthrough/interview with one of the devs using thunder hammer and jump pack which made combat seem a bit repetitive.  He was mostly spamming a couple of moves which could've just been because of the distraction of trying to give an interview at the same time,  There also seemd to be an excessive amount of slow-mo which detracted from the action for me but then again it might not feel the same when actually in the thick of battle instead of watching from afar.
Seen some multiplayer vids which look like fun as well so overall still got high hopes for it.

Kill Team is an OK diversion but gets boring quite quickly as there isn't much to it, Graphically its miles behind this one I believe they use a zoomed in version of the Dawn of War 2 engine.
Like me some Spacemarines but i was an Eldar player.  I heard this has 16 player online!  anyone know the mechanics of it?  is it going to be teams of Spacemarine VS Teams of Chaos Marines or just a FFA?

This looks promising.

Just played the demo (on xbox live) - pretty good. I await for reviews for info on game length and whether it holds up to further play but the demo is worthy of a blast at least.
