There's a perfect explanation on "Creating Synthetic Life", for blue colours. Its the colour they code the cells in the Petri dish to signify they're their created ones. It won't be just cloning by the time Rogue is released it'll be new added ingredients of DNA moulding With yeast!

Plus being able to pretend your willy is a Smurf probably gets you through long lonely hours in the trenches.
