Well I only seem to remember to check in on this blog when you post here (I'm rubbish that way) but everytime I do I'm blown away with how good the portraits are. At the rate you're going by the end these are going to be astonishing!

Aye, me too.  Of the most recent crop, Bacon and Pierre Boulle are just outstanding.  What an amazing project, and what a great way to develop your already impressive art.  Keep it up.

Thanks again for the kind words chaps  :)

Writers continues today with H. G. Wells: http://10minuteportraits.blogspot.com/2012/01/56-writers-h-g-wells.html

I'm also rather proud of my Arthur Miller, think that's my favourite so far.

Well I'm happy to say that I popped over there after seeing one of your posts elsewhere Grimm (may I call you that, I feel that I've posted on this thread to allow such rampant familiarity!) and I'm very glad I did.

As ever I'm reluctant to pick out any as they are all so good, they seem so relaxed and 'easy' not (not easy to execute but you give them an ease... I'll stop there...) but again I find myself doing so. That Stephen King one really adds something new. There's something so late 60s DC about it (I think it is). I absolutely love it.

Wow, thanks Colin - do you know I almost didn't blog that one because I wasn't sure about it, but in the end I did simply because the composition was so different - the view pulled back to include the upper figure rather than just a cloe-up of the face. Trying to vary it a bit!

Appreciate your comments dude, and yeah of course you can call me Grimm!  :)

Up to day 70, and this week the theme has been suicides - Ernest Hemigway, Ian Curtis, Sylvia Plath et al.

What better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than to pop over to the blog and see some WWI-themed portraits! Gavrilo Princip, Franz Ferdinand and the Kaiser so far.

I misread that as WWF*-themed portraits like the Kaiser. I hadn't heard of him but it sounds like a great name for a wrestler, especially a baddie doing the rounds of American fairgrounds in 1915.

* Now WWE I suppose but I can't claim to have watch much wrassling since the name change.
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

Loving this more and more. Liking the bleed towards the first world war. I don't call it the Great War because there was nothing great about it.

Hey folks, the First World War is drawing to a close on the blog - just got a couple more to post and then the new theme kicks off - 'Politics & Philososphy' will take in people like Rosa Parks, Karl Marx and Naomi Klein.

Colin & Vzzbux- thanks again fellas. Don't forget that the inked versions are for sale, only a tenner a pop if you fancy it: http://mattsoffe.weebly.com/portraits.html

Cheers Neil, was thinking I might put together a montage every time I reach a landmark number - it'll be 100 this monday... David Frankum also gave me the idea of exhibiting the whole lot, which I really like. I've never had an exhibition. Putting the feelers out to a few places in Liverpool.

Yeah go for it. I'll come.

I'm loving this.

As you are taking requests then I'll go for Edward Bulwer-Lytton.

Emperor - on the list!

Cheers  :)

I got the Bulwer-Lytton in the post the other day - looks smashing.
