Hi vark,
cant help re abc warriors, but please be aware when youre in london that gosh has moved. It's now in deepest soho, and the best way to find it is to go to what used to be the paul raymond revuebar (now madam jojo's) and take the 'porno alley' beside that- once youve run the gauntlet of stripjoints and adult dvd parlours, gosh will be on your right.

And welcome!

Thanks again to all.

I 've received today from amazon.co.uk "A.B.C. Warriors The Black Hole" which I have order a few month ago (released date December 8th on their site), even before this paperback was released in the USA (August 16th) by Simon and Shuster. My problem is Amazon.uk has sent me the S&S August print (which is presented as 1st printed edition in the credits page). I was expected the uk edition, the third print if I'm not mistaken.

For I don't live in England and so couldn't check in book stores, I would like to know if it's a mistake from amazon (but my copy has the same ISBN as the one described on their site)?  Or perhaps there were no "black hole" paperback scheduled in December in the UK (also an Amazon mistake but in that case I could be willing to keep the book).

Thanks in advance for your help.

It can be tricky because it seems Amazon.co.uk stocks the US editions, to be sure you need to check the ISBNs (also the UK editions are usually listed with Rebellion as the publisher while the US ones list 2000 AD but best bet is the ISBN - you can find them in the shop here and on S&S's site).

UK: 1904265375
http://shop.2000adonline.com/products/abc_warriors_the_black_hole
http://www.amazon.co.uk/B-C-Warriors-Black-Hole-2000/dp/1904265375/

US: 1907519920
http://books.simonandschuster.com/ABC-Warriors-The-Black-Hole/Simon-Bisley/ABC-Warriors/9781907519925
http://www.amazon.co.uk/ABC-Warriors-Black-Pat-Mills/dp/1907519920/

As far as I'm aware the only difference between the versions is the cover (correct me if I'm wrong there - sometimes the US editions have a little more in them than the earlier UK ones), the key difference is that the UK edition is out of stock in Amazon (in stock here) so you had to buy the US version. No harm done and it means Rebellion don't have to put Black Hole back into print, which means they have a spare reprint slot. So everyone wins as most times the differences aren't anything you should worry about (the main one would be for Low Life reprints as the same stories are included, but they have other series in with them).

If in doubt, ask the Hivemind as they can sort this out pretty quickly.

Hello and welcome to the board!

It is interesting that you have only read Pat Mills stuff as there was an online interview with him recently where he talked about the French comic scene which he clearly has a lot of respect for and states that 2000ad was inspired by French comics. I think he is probably the 2000ad writer who has made the most effort to get his stuff into French shops.

Here is part 2 of the interview: http://forbiddenplanet.co.uk/blog/2011/pat-mills-unwrapped-part-2/

Hi, and many thanks for your responses !

Smallbluething: Gosh near porno alley ? Well, sounds interesting,  better be lost there than somewhere else.

Emperor: thanks for your detailed response. This US version indeed contains an extra bit, Volgo the Ultimate Death machine from Dice Man 2 (role playing game). When in London next week end I will check if there is a uk paperback on the shelves, and keep this US version until then.

Whizzbank: thanks, I was aware of this interview (I try to be up to date about Pat Mills activity for posting news on my blog and the french Requiem Vampire Knight website). And yes, there is more Mills stuff on the french market than anybody else.

So It seems that Rebellion sells only one type of this "Black Hole" paperback in US and UK. The paperback sold since 8th december in UK is "first published august 2011", they have just added a tiny 12,99£ white sticker on the back cover.

Like I was saying in my first presentation post, I've recently subscribed to 2000AD and the meg especially for Pat Mills stories (and I'm French so I apologize in advance for my language errors) . I was familiar with Mills and Dredd universe but that was it. Thanks to the Christmas holidays I've been able to read all the prog I've collected so far, beginning with #1750. And it has been the best read I had since quite a long time (much more entertaining that the us anthology magazine DHP).
I've enjoyed all the series (Ampney Crusis, Angel zero, Indigo Prime, Sinister Dexter, Dredd, Low Life). I'm particulary amazed by the high quality of the art. Mainly because it was done from scratch to finishing pages (drawing, inking, colouring) by single artists. So each series have its own kind of personality which is a delightful pleasure for my old eyes (the magazine size being the prime quality of 2000AD and the meg!!).
I will go with the flow in saying that Low Life has been my favourite so far (script and art) and Rebellion can count on my money for future and past related paperbacks.
4 megazine to go and I will be up to speed (except American Reaper of course, it was too hard for me not to read it-at least twice-the day the mag were in my letterbox).

And a personal hello to my baby boy, Ariel, born a few hours ago.

Oh woo, well done.

Although if the missus asks what you've been doing since she gave birth the correct answer is "cleaning the house ready for your return", not posting on a comics forum ;) While we are pleased at such activity, we also suspect it'd be best not to boast about it (like so many things in life).

Thanks to all, and thinking about it, I've indeed many other things to do than posting here or anywhere (the idea strucks me right at the moment I press the "post" button yesterday. But for now let's say it's the calm before the storm, the very last of the little time that I got left to do interestingbutnosovital activities. Like reading all the Zarjaz fanzine... :-[

Well I can't deny you the Galaxy's Greatest Comic's Greatest Fanzine now can I? This is the period when it is important to get in all the things you won't be getting for the next 18 years, like sleep, leisurely bowel movements, nude days and reading. So carry on...
