I think this is also the reason why the excellent Freaks & Geeks never got a UK DVD release, and it was apparently very difficult to even release it uncut in the US - the show's creators didn't want to cut all of the authentic music, which is such a big part of the atmosphere of the show.

All these copyright restrictions are surely due for an overhaul in the digital age.

Oddly enough, I remember citing the Gay Daleks as a good reason not to bother renewing my TV license to a roomful of people - all of whom agreed with me.

TV Offal was made by Channel 4, not the BBC.

Ah, but if it makes you no longer want to own a TV it amounts to the same thing.
