Much as I like this guy as Doctor some of the stories last season were very ropey. However much as this had more Deus Ex's than the remaindered box at GAME it was pretty lovely in a emotional touching way. Sure it's cliched, sure it was very hammy at times and sure it had bobbins bits but for an hour of Xmas telly it was lovely.

It made my 70-odd something mum cry. In a good way.
If I'd known it was harmless I would have killed it myself.

I'd be happy with a Christmastime-transmitted special that isn't set at Christmas.    Just to make a change.

C"mon Grant, surely you wouldn't refuse The Christmas Massacre of Fang Rock?

Stevie's also with Greg; nothing says Christmas like a Yeti.

Rose tinted glasses, i was in the UK, watching it with family actually on the 25th. it was INCREDIBLE.
great christmas story. wonderful ending.

highlight of the season TV wise for my money.
it did what i said on the tin.

i avoided all spoilers also, which only added to it for me.
I AM VERY BUSY!

It took longer than normal to make me drift off, I lasted 40 mins this time! The end music woke me up so I rewound it and finished it off, bland  :|

My head tells me that it wasn't as good as last year with the clever use of time travel, the wonderful Gambon and the floating sharks - for example Bill Bailey's part was poor as was Alexander Armstrong. But my heart took over and I had tears streaming down my face at the end :'( I wasn't moved like this last year and I don't usually like sappy happy endings. I was convinced the father would die and intellectually think that him staying dead would make a better ending to the story. I'm going to watch it again on iPlayer and hopefully get a more objective view of the story. But then again, I love it when a story graps my heart and moves me emotionally. Objectivity can be overrated.
