It's great to see Gibson among the creators on this who are all outrageously talented (including Mr Quarter obv). Honestly - not much of it strikes a chord with me as they clearly are doing it with a fondness and a love for the product and personally I find the world of American mainstream comics the most alienating and shallow market-driven shitemachine on the planet. The CONTINUOUSLY AMAZING artwork throughout is compelling on it's own though and it's nice to see parodies so slickly produced.
In terms of the potentially offensive-to-LGBT wolvie thing - meh, I've seen much MUCH more offensive stories. I thought he was going to be pink. Stuff like Family Guy is much more homophobic on a regular basis and to a much larger audience. I agree with Rog, who I presume was saying that the glut of the strip was just an explanation of what "Eiffel Towering" is (which urban dictionary actually explicitly defines as a straight activity so Mr Sohmer has BEEN CREATIVE there). Although the wider element is that weird Marvel "who will Wolverine choose" thing which The Gutters have made quite a few references to. This is the least offensive of them really. I mean, at least it's a progressive compromise.
Summary: The Gutters is a popular lightweight parody of mainstream American comics that regularly gets absolutely incredible artists in, Mr Gibson Quarter kicked some arse and "FutureQuake, Something Wicked, as well as Zarjaz and Dogbreath" was probably seen by a ton of new people who will hopefully investigate
