« on: 30 January, 2012, 01:52:06 PM »
It says here:

'A couple of days ago it was reported that DreamWorks purchased a script from J. Michael Straczynski called Voices From The Dead. The story follows magician Harry Houdini, detective Sherlock Holmes, and writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as they solve a string of murders in 1920's New York with the help of a psychic friend'.

And again I'm not sure 2000AD should ever be making waves about setups in other media that are variations on a theme...

As it is, I think the 'Necronauts' concept is just one whose time has/had come.

And if memory serves, in that other thread on this subject didn't Emperor list three or four other variations on the theme?

Given that:

  • Houdini and Conan Doyle were best mates in real life (until Houdini got fed up with Doyle's unquestioning obsession with spiritualism);
  • Both had a fascination with the supernatural
  • Doyle was obviously fascinated with detective work (until he got fed up with Holmes and killed him off)
  • Houdini was also interested in investigating things (especially fraudulent spiritualists)

... what, exactly, has JMS allegedly copied from Rennie?

And don't forget Lovecraft ghostwrote "Under the Pyramids" for Houdini.

But wait. Lovecraft isn't in the film. So...never mind.

necroposts about necronauts???   :-[
I have a vague memory of this too, but thought it mildly interesting that its heading for DreamWorks.

I too think that this is an idea thats time has come, looking at Lock Stock and Sherlock and the like, i think a couple of years will see Cabal Inc and Absolm type thangs heading for Hollywood too.

As for getting your hand on it Davek, buying it in the trade paperback Tharg's Terror Tales Presents Necronauts and Love Like Blood , i think. Otherwise you'll pay a fortune

Necronauts is only 3 squid on the 2000ad shop.

Does any one know if Tharg's Terror Tales Presents Necronauts and Love Like Blood has exactly the same Necronauts content?

Well, your best bet is to buy the Necronauts solo outing rather than the Tharg's Terror Tales.... Then, if you ever decide you want A Love like Blood as well, you can pick up the Storming Heaven trade which contains A Love like Blood, Storming Heaven, From Grace and myriad other one-offs - a lot more bang for your buck.
