Good prog and again I realised how the editing gave a nice fluctuation of classic and newer thrills. This also sets the affirmation that Dante, although much younger than the two bookends JD an SD, is definitely being under-scored as a contemporary classic for the anthology. From in-house and outhouse alike. And what strong mid-supports coming from the two infant terribles.
A nice shovelling on of the madness in Dredd. Balanced with premeditated deviousness. Henry Flint gauging John Wagner's humour.
Grey area. liked how Dan Abnett made me think female protagonist would lump for the greeted fella, being there was maybe an affinity between them , with the whole feeling of being outsiders. Then tells it like she is going for a more steadier placement with more rugged outcomes. Nice also, that most of the "dialogue" was non-verbal, giving the episode an expressionist texture. Karl Richardson handled it well.
Dante. Brilliante. After blowing off the cobwebs last week, he's knee deep in the action. And I'm not worried about the lack of voice of dissent at the wedding ceremony because Dante isn't. That's how much control the character has gotten over me these past weeks. But Robbie Morrison couldn't let another week pass by without another piece of ballsy sentiment. I was almost surprised. So well written out.
Absolom is kicking ass and taking names but what has come from such aggressive detecting tactics as the answers catch the team on the flipside? Sharper than an empty room with the bare dusty floorboards covered in shards of broken glass. Guv'.
And finally Strontium Dog. A pure breed stone classic character with originals and newcomers rendering the old dog back to life. Now how dome I don't have to strain my eyes on the darker pictures to pick out the story for this artist and otherwise squint all the way through a Slaine? Because it's in the hands of a humble maestro? Sorry, Clint. It goes without saying you could learn a thing or two from this guy. the crew around him obviously do.
Letters. I see Stephen So Watson has a letter in again. I'll read it on the loo later.
