LOEG Nemo: Heart Of Ice
« on: 05 February, 2012, 04:59:02 PM »
Alan Moore revealed that the next League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen project to follow the conclusion of Century this summer, is to be called Nemo: Heart Of Ice, and that forty of the forty-eight pages involved have been written so far… and that we’ll see it before the end of the year…

Nemo appears to be on his deathbed in LOEG: Century 1910, and this adventure is set in he twenties, so something is up. Moore told the throng that “It takes place in Antarctica and [the work of H.P. Lovecraft] is a major component. You figure it out.”

I'm glad to hear we're going to get more Nemo.  Both Nemo I and II had a lot of set-up, but they never really delivered as characters that did anything. Other than showing up and saving the day with the Nautilus, I mean.

The way Jules Verne has been treated by Alan Moore and Wildstorm is a disgrace. Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea is a classic, why do we need a sequel 142 years later?

Can't writers these days come up with something new rather than constantly relying on the successes of the past?

So Alan Moore's service to comics over the last 30 or so years means nothing? He need not apologise for anything and he can spend the rest of his life writing what he enjoys for all I care. Don't blame Moore for the state of the industry, blame the corporations/distributors who control it and whom Moore rightly criticises for the palsy of imagination they allow to reach market every month. There's plenty of good comics out there, you just need to look for them as most of the DC/Marvel crap is taking up masses of shelf real-estate.

*It's also not Wildstorm who publish LOEG anymore, it's Top Shelf.

I agree with Tordleback. That's what I think too. It's like Alan had his ear to the ground listening to our mutterings.

We're living in a time where there is so much history to draw upon it's nigh on impossible for present day works not to include references to past masterpieces. If he was still around I bet Vernes would have been happy to collaborate with Alan Moore.

Love the sexist assumption that this will be about the male Captain Nemo, and that his death was some sort of ruse.

Is it going under the banner BEFORE THE LEAGUE?

I love Alan Moore cos lets be honest, the best of everybody else's work combined only just matches what he did on his own.

And it's frankly brilliant for Kev ONeil. I wish them well. There's some more Steve Parkhouse due as well isn't there? That's the other thing Alan never forgets.

Quit plagiarising my posts! I'll sue you! I'll sue all of you!

Moore even based his beard on Jules Verne's facial hair! Halo Jones was a rip-off of Little Dorrit! Other remarks that will taken utterly seriously!

I think that's a clue to it being his daughter, who took over the Nautilus in 1910.
