And very nice it was too.

SPOILERS!

Dredd. I cant believe she gets away again! I like Oola Blint and hope she has a lovely time killing people down-under. She's got some cheek though. I can't bring myself to say why though. :P

News: HARRY TWENTY IS GETTING BACK IN PRINT!
OH BABY! I haven't seen Alan Davis' art for this for many years. I cannot wait. Darkie finishes in two megs and the Battle story starts next month.

Is it me, or is there not much lead time there for Bish-op to make use of? The poor droid will be leggi it to keep ahead of us!

Black Siddha finishes well. I suppose. The story seems well out of place at the moment.

Still to fresh for much in the way of a detailed review, but I loved this meg and Devlin gets a lovely last page.

Spoilers

Cover: I like it.

Shakedown: An unsatisfying end, in my opinion.  I expected all the disparate threads to tie together at the end somehow, but instead they were just sort of cut off abruptly one by one. Disappointing.

Bato Loco: Lots of fun, I enjoyed this.

Classic Dredd: So, so much better than "Classic" Slaine.

Darkie's Mob: 'Aieeee!', indeed.  Somebody make the pain end.  How much more of this crud is there left to go?  If Charley's War has aged as badly as this, the upcoming reprints will probably make me cry.

Black Siddha: I was beginning to enjoy this last month, but this one struck me as stupid and unconvincing.  The art's fab though, so that's all right then.  It'd just better involve some serious kicking of ass when it returns, that's all, there's only so much moping about I can take.

Repo-Mex: I thought this was going to be Four Rooms only with robots for the first three pages, and I was wishing it had been for the last three.  There's nothing there to make me care if it comes back or not, since it didn't really introduce me to what the Repo-Mex are all about.  Really needed a bit more to explain the concept, unless that's all there is to it, in which case it's like Lobster Random only crap.  Meh.

Devlin: Starting to feel stretched a bit thin this, now.

Other stuff: I don't care about Audio Progs or the people who make them.  Sorry.

Belting stuff. Best Meg in a long while.

Cover - looks better in colour than the preview implied. Nice.

Dredd - Old fashioned art, not a bad thing. Fun, old fashioned run about.

Bato Loco - looks like it could be enjoyable stuff. Supporting cast looks in place too.

Dredd Reprints - Look lovely and I've never read anu of them before which is a bonus.

Darkies Mob - Really picked up this month. Having the same artist on board throughout helps and the story is keeping interest up nicely.

Black Siddha - Perks up at the end, looking forwards to more. Still think the two part trial knackered the pacing. Simon Davis' art is beautiful stuff.

Repo-Mex - I thought it got better as it went along, could be fun to see more. Might just run out of steam. Interesting to find out.

Devlin - Good as ever, great last page. Much rather it had been in the weekly though.

Apocalypse Soon fun enough. Audio article is interesting as far as it goes, but why no mention of Rogue? And the Benny C.D.'s came before Who...

Next months line up looks good too.

Really, really enjoyed this months Meg.

Oh, and I missed the 'coming soon' and Gordons column. The 2k advert is beautiful. Really lovely. I just kept going back and staring in awe.

Gordon's column is gone?  Awww.

What's good about next month's lineup that people seem to like?

Another month gone. I can?t believe it. *sigh

DREDD: Well, somehow Part 1 was funnier. It lost a bit of steam. But on the whole it was enjayable. And it was nice that Oola got away. She has a mission!

BATO LOCO: Okay, the first ep was funny, but this... I dunno. Guess Bato is on the page a terrif concept, but here he loses steam already. I waited every page for the guest-appearance of Sin/Dex. He just didn?t work for me. Art was nice, though.

GOLD: My, how much Dredd has changed in terms of art and storytelling over the years.
DARKIE?S MOB: well, it began to drag in the last installment. Still interesting in the historic context, but ...

BLACK SIDDHA: It?s over. At last.

Interesting article. I always wanted to buy one of the Benny audios, but frankly they are too expensive for my taste. And Big Finish are producing like there is no tommorow. Do these things sell so good?

REPO-MEX: Not my cup of tea.

WAUGH: this is getting a bit long, or?

All in all, an okay Meg. There were better.

Oh dear. Its pretty disapointing all round I'm afraid, especially considering the role the Meg was on just a few months ago. Dave Bishops effort being particulary piss poor (Rip off or homage to Repo Man? Who knows, or even cares its shite).

That 1 page strip from toxic continues to be a waste of time as well.

But there is a single gem amongst the mire! Yes, right there, at the bottom of the last page of Black Sidha, where it says

THE END

Phew!

>Art was nice, though.

I'd disagree with that, it could be good, but the artwork in many panels just isnt clear.

>Dave Bishops effort being particulary piss poor

As David 'dont call me dave' Bishop's only credit in Meg 208 is the Bad Company 1 page feature cant see what was so piss poor about his effort.

>Its pretty disapointing all round I'm afraid

Still think the Meg is on a high and for me is a better read than 2000AD.

>That 1 page strip from toxic continues to be a waste of time as well

Is Apocalypse now from Toxic? Its copoyrighted 2003 and if it was reprint I'd have thought it'd appear in the gold section.

>THE END

Do you subscribe? or are you a collector that doesnt like gaps in runs of comics? Just wondered if I thought things were so bad I'd stop buying.

Meg 208, it aint perfect but its still one hell of a read.

But Da Bish has a psuedonym for writing these days Col. Logan, sir.

I'm warming to Repo-Mex. Could be a fun strip in the Ace Trucking Co. mould. Seems more 2k though.
