Ah, sorry bliab!

That was not my intention!

Just in defence of FB, who I've never had an issue with personally.   ;)

Spikes

Not hugely fussed about collecting variant covers - If there is to be multiple covers, then I'm generally happy to see what is what, and then try to snag the one that takes my fancy, which I was able to do from my local newsagent (The Burnham cover), - but Forbidden Planet was stocking all three.

They claimed that Forbidden Planet: London was the only store in the UK that you could get hold of the the PX preview exclusive issue?

So with them being freely available - (well, one copy of each variant per person) - I snagged the other 2 variants needed.

Ebay is the place you'll find a good few of these on sale from FP: London. Average asking price = £30/£40...

That's a really odd thing for them to say - it may be the only place *they* can get it (since their main buyer is there) but any comic book store should be able to order the reprint edition using Diamond UK's online ordering system.

Oh, sorry - I meant the colour Fabry 'PX' cover - which came out with the other 2 variants, not the forthcoming(?) B+W 2nd reprint version.

But irrespective of rarity: he's the man!!! Z

Looked a great night, ZenArcade!

Once i've this moving house malarkey sorted, i'll have to pop along to one.

The e-bay sales turn my stomach.  What the hell, preying on people's genuine desire to have a prog....fucking speculating scumbags. Z

My local comic reserves my prog every week and he'd got me the colour Fabry one. Got mine signed by Edgington, Wagner, and Winslade. Didn't realise it was a limited edition, rather chuffed. Pride of place in the collection.
Never ever bloody anything ever

Sadly the scalpers have infiltrated or sectors of the hobby market-it used to be just concert tickets, sadly no longer!

Very sad for genuine squax who have to pay through the nose for a Prog!  :(

Perhaps that's why variants shouldn't be done, same for merchandise but that's all for another thread really :-X

Bodysnatchers taken over Burdis, wanting less merchandise?

It's easy to see why it's done - especially for merchandise where the moulds are done and it's just a new paint job and packaging.

It also allows for companies to get exclusives.

But then I'm not stricken by the collecting bug, I just got prog 2000 digitally :D

It would be an interesting experiment to have multiple artists attempt, the same Dredd script for the 40th - that would be slightly different.

Of course an evil person would suggest a three-part Dredd that appears in one of each variant.

I'm glad to hear that the #2000 prog has been a success for Rebellion but there is no doubting that it has been a pain in the arse for me. I probably should have been better prepared but the shops sold out of copies super quick (not helped by the fact that the variants encourage multiple purchases) and folks just seem to be going crazy with this.  I can't even get angry with the scalpers on ebay as its all so unbelievable what some of the progs are selling for.

Still, I've put a pre order on FP for the reprint so I might get lucky with that otherwise its a nice hole in my prog collection where #2000 should be.

Fungus

I know it's economics and is impossible to regulate, but the eBay prices are pretty sickening. Not single copies of variants, mind. These lovable rogues have multiple copies, roll up, roll up...
