Totally missed this, because I went out after finding money from a Steam refund (it was like almost a fortnight overdue!) and this was to buy new shoes for my Gandalf costume for the local convention later this month. Like, I was wearing silver ugg-boots last time that were a touch too big for my feet and I kept stepping out of them. Although, they may have been only size 11 inches which could also be technically to small for me.

Since had brought pirate-like knee-length leg shoe/boot coverings because they were cheaper, I also needed shoes or boots.to put them over. I went for these slip on dark leather formal like shoes to go with the dark plastic-leather polymer of the lower legs covers which had giant cuffs and lacing to add to their authenticity.

I think these might fit over shoes more than they would fit over boots As I was almost going to buy myself a pair of those PVC boots made from rubber, but none of those were in my size and they kind of break the immersion.

Anyway, those boot/shoe coverings have a strap that goes under that gap (Between the heel and toe portion of what ever foot wear I choose to wear with these!) and around the other side.  So, something with a heel arrangement rather than totally flat soles is best for these.

The shoes I brought are size eleven inches, but so narrow that after hour of walking around town in them. and then going to see a film (Check Last Movie Watched Thread!) while wearing them. I had to take them off as I was leaving the my seat and walk all the way home bare footed. My other toes were reddish from tightness.....

You know that reminds of that other problem I said I was having that thread that got locked. I won't go into that

You can see the shoe is more narrow towards the tips and this hurts me and I do have partically wide feet for a fellow my size.

Standing at 5"9 and a bit more than that, I wear between size 10 and 11 footwear,  yet mostly the latter most of the time. Now with that style of show, I might need to go one size up or by at least another half if that was possible. Thinking of returning them, even though I wore them around town and have already have a bit of a crease along the top of them. So, they may either say no, or not give me all the entire thirty I payed for those.

Is K-Mart in the U.K. or is it only Tescos?

Through some loop on one of my payments options I was able to afford the noticeable amount of money I need for these....

because, I now realise, I need something that could pass for Gandalf (The book version!) Middle-Earthern style fashioned by Valarian-Cobblers while giving me three and a half more inches in height.
What would that make me, something roughly at six feet or six one or almost that! I was really wanted the 7 inch platforms, but they just look so wrong....

For Gandalf. Besides, I don't really dress as punk or Goth, I'm more of Bevan or Bogan or Westie going me dress habits only.

BTW Gandalf's real height is supposed to be....

Continued later....

According to the rules for MERPG in the Valar & Maier book,

Gandalf is 6 foot, 4 inches tall. The shortest and oldest looking of the Istari.

Radagast is 6 foot, 5 inches tall. I thought it strange that they said his robes are mostly blue and a sword made entirely from wood.

Pallando is 6 foot, 6 inches and fell at the hands of his fellow wizard Alatar sometime after the end of the war of the ring.

Alatar is 6 foot, 6 or 7 inches tall and the fittest of them all because he follows Orome the hunter (I think) and  he even carries a bow as one of primary weapons.

Saruman is 6 foot, 7 inches tall and we all know about him and first guy (Gandalf!).

I'm not even sure if this information corrects, aside from their names, at least. Because it's from a source book for a role playing game and this is was just dreamed up by the official researchers. They were most probably all the same height, or taller or just on 6 foot. Radagast actually wore brown robes as indicated by his official appellation and didn't have wooden sword (Although this might have made him more awesome in the films !)

Pallando, might have taken the body of a Easterling and Alatar the body of one of Haradim and their style of dress might have reflected this as well.

When Gandalf said that he never could remember the names of the other two wizards not given any screen time in the films. This got me to thinking that he had made them up and decided to not to pretend to be any one, but himself.

Yet, that is just a speculation of my own.

So, taking into consideration that Gandalf was well over height of a average man possibly wearing the body of elderly yet still spry northern man.

I really felt I needed those last boots I ordered and unfortunitely either yesterday or the day before, I was
refused authorisation on the funds I tried to borrow from Pay Pal and they were reversed.

So, I desperately searched online for local store that would specialise in that sort of thing in the nearest city of Brisbane  and found a warehouse in a more rural area heading towards the coast and after a phone call. The girl on the other end told me that she would delay her stock order until next Monday when I get paid again. I do hope she wasn't lying about that. She also said they would only take ten days to be delivered from America.

I'm still going to do another online search for a place that sells this gear in the city. It really bothers me that I found this place out in the sticks. I always figured Goths to be city folk. Goth is very urban as far as I am concerned.

In the meantime, the grey arm coverings like long sleeve gloves with out the fingers .....

Yet these were only one of two I order, the other ones here....

Which look more like the official arm a coverings I found here....

And those are 80 dollars which a bit too steep for what they really do. As well as the 300+ dollars for somethings possibly the official replica of his hat and a woollen throw wrap each....

The leather piratey spats have arrived. Dark leathery and with cuffs and laces up the side and they slip over my feet and legs while elastic straps hold them down over what ever other shoes I wear underneath.....

So, I'm now waiting on the more woollen looking arm coverings that really are supposed to be for girls. Both of them are, but the second ones are also titled unisex and another pair of splats that look more like this....

Which look less lived or worn and that much less authentic to me. These were the ones I order first and I think was too late in cancellation after ordering the second ones which I now have.

I'm also waiting on this belt....

I'm hoping it was the black one I ordered, and these were a last resort because I don't approve of the phallic way it just hangs like that. Brought them, because I had to compromise and these were really cheap.

I need to stop writing now, it's so hot and steamy, that the heat has addled my brain.....

Have you ever wondered what came first the blade or the heel?

some assassin type dropped his/her knife through their foot and the resulting injury defined his/hers legs so the shoe was born...

...or not.

You know I did pay close attention to the heels of the boots I were looking at and the ones I actually purchased last Monday.

The same as the shiner ones I show off earlier (Up above here...), but with a duller matt finish. More like leather than that polymer substance and I could wear the spats over them.

The coat I ordered is suppose to be for females, but can actually tell?

ThryllSeekyr

Tried on my Gandalf costume so far......

Before, my belt, coat, and boots arrive.

I don't have any more faith in the people or the courier who are delivering my belt. It's now been almost a month.

I hope the coat arrives later on this morning, (I think, it's just gone midnight awhile go now!) as it might have arrived either on Tuesday or the next day.

The boots were promised to arrive on Friday and I will be very disappointed if they don't.

Here's the photos....

Of course, you've already seen the last picture of me in the older night-shirt and cloak costume.

In the other three pictures taken in house. I have a different wig and beard which of better quality. I wish asked for dark grey colour when choosing those and the beard does not quite suit the hair piece, but it will have to do.

If you zoom in on my face you might notice, I earing a partial facemask to make me look a little more wizened (Although, the mask I did originally buy is a demonic looking wrestling mask from the local Toy-World painted in flesh colour and now I have added the fake latex hooked shaped nose I ordered and it kid of flimsy and very pale. I used the same paint to match with the mask and attached with Blue-Tack (Funny story about Blue-Tack is that I don't normally know where I keep it stored, but I just scrape it off the door of my room where I excessively applied it to attach a classic Lord of the Rings poster of all things.

Which kept falling to the ground during the warmer months and so I had to roll it up and put it away.)

The other reason for the mask was so, I could attach grey eye-brows. Something that had alluded my financial reach and availability the other time I dressed up this way. I wanted the eyes-brows to be the way they were described in the book....(I forget)....when I found this picture (From the Ralph Bankshi version of the film!)....

I really wanted to try for the grey grass-stalks mono-brow appearance, but thought it might compromise the stability of the mask I was using.

Yep, more like that and I had even brought long whit pipe cleaners to attach underneath wig-hair (I had I and taken from one of the early hair pieces I had worn or kept as a retainer!) I had applied to give them support and flair out more. I'm still undecided about using those.

Was going to clip them enough, for extra-manageability, but really like them longer. They give his face more character that way. of course, the double trilogy, this was probably considered too cartoony and threat to the serious nature of Istari, but not for the Beorning who does look utterly camp while also reminiscent of post-Horned-God-Slaine's.

So, the grey eyebrows are, long, thick, and hang down...then sweep back across my temples before obscuring my vision.

Looking at myself, in the mirror, I thought something needs to be done about my eyes, as they are now over shadowed in the recess of eyeholes of the mask.  Makes them look perhaps a little too creepy for Maiar who capitalised on looking more ordinary than demonic and soulless.

As you may know, the cloak I put on for these photos was the one I brought earlier this year, to wear at one of the later screenings of the third Hobbit film. Something, that I never made it to un-fortunitely.

Right now, I don't like it so much, but thought it would do for those pictures and much better than the nightshirt.

off to bed now...so tired, will work on the hat later on to day or waiting for the hat version of cobblers to do this for me.

This one is good example...

Boots should be here tomorrow, but I'm not sure about anything.

I was working on Gandalf's conical-wise-brim-hat. For this chose this blue-grey colour referred to as Dusty. Which seems to be like the colour of dark grey marble that they make statues from.

(Sorry, about the tiny-peepee, but this was the only picture with the right coloured statue and this is high-art after all!)

I have been watching this video over and over gain and also asking the uploader some questions....

Yea, the video is partically amusing to a fellow such as myself, and French accent only adds to this speculation. Not that it's a bad thing really, and another variant of the double-entre. Beside the accent is charming.

It\'s all alit bit too far-fetch wfor me and I wish I had somebody who was more experienced to do the sewing for me, but I think I know what to do basically, and yet, some parts of her tutorial go right over my head.

It was only when I studied some of the head wears featured in free Steam game called Dota-Two that I had  brain-wave idea.....

Which I won't be sharing with yous just yet
