It's out next Friday, and I was slightly disappointed about that as I somehow got it in my head it was out this weekend.  I'm desperately trying to find entertaining things to do of a Saturday night that don't involve booze, and this'll be just the ticket next week.

It's out next Friday

And hoping to catch it then, or failing that - hopefully - the weekend after.
This has kinda caught me unawares, as id paid very little attention to anything about this.

But now its nearly here, and despite having now seeing the trailer, I feel I can go into the cinema, and see it pretty unspoiled. Which is nice in this day and age.

The good reviews (not read, of course) is heartening to see.

It means 'God from the Machine', being a stage direction in classical theatre, when insanely complicated plot complications could only be resolved by having an actor dressed as a god winched down from the heavens to fix things with divine magic.

Hence, deus ex machina plot resolutions.

Ghost, God yeah yeah ya know bloomin' heck always splittin' hairs that GRennie... you'd think he'd never read me being a dumb ass before!

The Police gave you a bum steer, though there's a distinct lack of god with the title in question.

HA! and I did used to really love that record as a kid... I doubt it holds up these days?

Watched this today and was hugely impressed.

A fantastically, thought provoking movie, with excellent performances and directorial flair!

Brilliant soundtrack too, which I can't wait to picl-up!

Look forward to Garland's next project.

Out in Cineworld Cardiff from tomorrow - hoping to see it in the evening!

Saw it last night - very very good.  Slow, but taut.  No wasted scenes.  It slowly builds.  Low key, but creepy as hell.

I want to talk about the fim in depth, but will not, even with the whole spoiler thingy blacking out my text because I absolutely do not want to spoil this film even accidentally for anyone.

Well done Mr Garland.Well done.

Just saw it, and really enjoyed it - great performances and hard to say too much without spoiling it.

Saw him recently in this and A MOST VIOLENT YEAR and, wow. Oscar Isaac really is rather good.
Not sure if pervert or cheesecake expert.

A small initial indie release of 4 theatres in the US but good news leading to expansion:

"Ex Machina opened to an estimated $250,000 from four locations, which translates to a strong $62,500 per-theater average. That's the biggest per-theater average so far this year, and second-biggest ever for distributor A24 (in both cases, ahead of While We're Young). With strong reviews, look for this to expand nationwide over the next few weeks."

Great stuff. Hopefully it'll be showing somewhere I can see it.

"The film played incredibly everywhere – from expected major-market expansions like San Francisco and Washington D.C. – to rarefied territories for an indie sci-fi like Duluth and Fargo," A24 said in a release. Exit poll responses are reported to be strong.
