I was reading some old programs and notice that that three stories in a row:

'On meeting your enemy' (Prog. 622 - 15th april 1989)
Banana City' (prog.623-625 - 22th april 1989)
'In the Bath' (prog. 626 -13th May 1989)

All feature the idea that Dredd is getting on a bit and maybe past it.

I always remembered this as a 90s thing but clearly earlier than this - is this the first time it's mentioned as a concept to deal with? or is it mentioned earlier than this?

'Hitman' (571-573) stands out to me as a significant story of this type - whether it's the first to properly address the issue, I dunno. "I may be getting old, Hershey, but I'm still nobody's patsy."

So that takes us back to 23 April 1989?

Can we go back further than that?
