For oblique commentary on the effects of of austerity (abject despair, mostly) look to some of Wagner's shorter outings such as Shooter's Night or Student Bodies. There's also the usual, from-the-headlines hooks to be found: poor doors in Block Judge or Edward Snowden & Chelsea Manning in Mega-City Confidential

The parallels between CJs and PMs (discussed above) reflect the way TB Grover read the papers before writing Dredd stories. I remember thinking Paul Herriman was a Blair analogue; an empty vessel whose vacuity and dreams of personal glory allow the return of an old evil.

Al Ewing and Ben Willsher take a pop not just at IDS's fit to work scheme, but at the way we're all prepared to redirect our anger at the most vulnerable in society, rather than the people who actually fucked us over (Megazine 356):

Have we seen many cases of disastrous corrupt outsourcing?

There's no revolving door in Judge Dredd but a few senior judges taking the Long Walk straight to a cushty position at a 'cursed earth' contractor (really based in another Cit but CE for tax purposes) would be most apt at the moment.

The recent story (was it called 'The Beating'?) where footage of Dredd "killing" an unarmed perp was released by an outsourced Justice Dept blackmail/leverage intelligence gathering operation.

The Adventurer

I'm pretty sure Dredd is dealing with corrupt outsourcing literally all the time.
