As a bit of an antidote to the RIP thread (and even though I'm a bit averse to celeb culture), how about a thread focussed on the birthdays of the icons of our pop culture - only living people please!

  • Jackie Mason (88)
  • Michael J Fox (55)
  • Johnny Depp (53)
  • Natalie Portman (35)

Well let's have a big hurrah for old Spatacus himself, Kirk Douglas. 100 today and still looking spry.
An old-school, no-bullshit, boys-own action/adventure comic reminiscent of the 2000ads and Eagles and Warlords and Battles and other glorious black-and-white comics that were so, so cool in the 70's and 80's - Buy the hardback Christmas Annual!

It's all right, that's in every contract.
That's what they call a sanity clause.
You can't fool me, there ain't no sanity clause.

I'm Brian.

No, I really am. That's what the B stands for.

I'm a Kirk, and it's my birthday.

Damn this thread moved on fast. I was expecting a much longer run of 'I'm Spartacus' so I could throw in my Glastonbury tribute "I'm Tiger Woods"* but you lot don't know how to keep a gag running beyond breaking point do you!

*Do they still do that at Glastonbury? Has it moved on from Tiger Woods? Noever did know why it was Tiger Woods.

Fuck. Though I can only name one Placebo song, I somehow never imagined Brian Molko as anything other than a 17-year-old emo kid. Glad there's another middle
-aged Brian who thinks he's still a teenager.

And I thought Kenneth Branagh was much older. He came very close to playing Withnail - and despite Richard E Grant's utterly wonderful performance I think Kenny could have nailed it too.
