Lovely display! I was looking at Alex & Ada the other day - any good?

Tombo

It's a pretty decent series, starts off as a normal boy-meets-robot-girl story before moving on to things like what does it mean to be sentient, what sort of rights should robots have, and should people be afraid of A.I.s.  There's probably some allegories about human rights and the like in there as well.

The art is very clean, not exactly minimalist but uncluttered.

Good man - good luck.

Thanks Colin, a few are actually looking really promising, it's just a go between right now but it'll be nice to move out from family at last (I missed out on all that Uni dorm millarky ).

Housing update: Sadly none of the homes proved completely suitable to my needs, mostly due to poor access to public transport into central Manchester or no private parking space included. HOWEVER, a few studio apartments have cropped up almost identical to my previous first choice, just right next to a metro link station, so i'm going to take a look at that one in the morning. The plus side? It has a HUUUUUGE office space, it's almost like a second living space. Perfect for a comic cave!

Housng update: Still looking for a place to live, one promising place was swallowed up by a, you guessed it, property shark. Fuck 'em, who'se going to spend another 10,000 for a one bedroom flat just because you put a lick of paint on it and chuck in a sofa bed?! I was going to do that anyway, it's all about bloody shareholders and selling it in again, fuckin' broken ass AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!!

OK, negative out of the way I just nabbed the complete The Nikopol Trilogy by Enki Bilal. It's LUSH!!!

Oh you got so much right there, so much.

I particularly like the purity of form. Added to the amibition of expansion so implied by the space left.

In summary - lovely!

Hawkmumbler

Ooohhh fill up them sexy spaces with more juicy comics!

Everytine this threads pops up I take it as an excuse to just gaze upon every comic collection again. Glorious!

Fantastic stuff.

We are about to put a bid in on a lovely house, and on our second viewing today we are taking a notebook. The good Lady will be imagining curtains, tables, chairs etc. I'll be mapping out where i'm going to store and display my small, but growing, collection!

Like that bookcase irongraham I've had to do the same and bright a new bookcase for the mega collection, the expense never ends lol

This is definitely one of my favourite threads here so I thought I would join in.
We, the Wife and I bought this house deliberately because of the extension that incorporates a large room with an en-suite shower, toilet and washing basin. This was always going to be my room and I had/have big ideas for it. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) my collection of comics, books, DVDs, Blu Rays and assorted crap is rather large and it means that I have to decorate the room and fit it out with shelves whilst moving stuff around the room as I go. I also have two sheds filled with boxes of books and comics. I have to admit that I don't think I'm going to get it all in and logistically it's been a bit of a nightmare.
I've gone for the bespoke option meaning I'm wallpapering the walls with a faux wooden panel effect and then putting up shelves and varnishing them in oak varnish. I'm looking for the old fashioned library look. Two thirds of the room has now been wallpapered but only one wall has (nearly) been completed in shelving. I have one shelf left to do, which I'm doing tomorrow, due to running out of varnish.
This first picture gives you a good view of the wallpaper. It will be the last to be shelved.

This picture gives you an idea of what I had before in terms of bookcases, what the walls look like before I wallpaper them, and the amount of crap I have to keep moving around as I work my way around the room decorating and putting up the shelves.

This was the first wall and shelves that I put up especially for my Batman comic binds that have been mentioned on another thread. Again there is quite a bit in front of it in terms of comic boxes and graphic novels that I have to keep moving. Once completed these will have disappeared into binds or onto shelves.

The binds in a close up.

The picture below represents the almost finished wall complete with books and knick knacks.

This is the end of that wall on the right

and a close up of some Titan reprints, 2000 AD comic boxes and some annuals.

So that is where I am at so far. If you are interested I shall update as I go along. Don't hold your breath though, so far progress has taken just over two years.

Oh hey, my faveourite thread has updat-'spits coffee everywhere'

Phwaaar misus thats what I call a comic collection! I spy the Vampirella Archives, any good? I've been meaning to read Vamp for years.

Mattofthespurs

They are an acquired taste, especially the first volume (meaning it's a bit shit) but the art work, especially from the Spanish artists is stellar.
I've got about 25 long boxes in one of the sheds and the dream was always to bind up everything I wanted, most specifically the Batman titles (in chronological order) and 2000 AD (and assorted extra titles such as Starlord, Tornado, Crisis etc...). I'm happy to bind the Batman's in buxton which is relatively cheap (£18 a volume) but I've always dreamt of doing the 2000 AD's in full leather which makes it about £75 a volume. Just saving up now for the first five volume batch. Will probably do the Starlord and Tornados first just so I can iron out any mistakes before I plunge into the 2000 AD's.
I love looking at other peoples houses and collections.
