Here's one for electronic music lovers. Stevie, I'm thinking of you here for one.

Igloo magazine is an online news and reviews site for electronic music and they've compiled a couple of free mix tapes filled with glitchy, bleepy goodness.

Here's volume 1 -

Very good indeed. Serious music. Well played Sir.

Nice - may I also point out that I saw Johnny's band in a Rockabilly Cannibal Comedy movie last week. I'm not joking. It was good, too.

Here's something I vaguely remember from years back - there's a very subtle anti-US message hidden in the lyrics, see if you can spot it

I love the Exploited..despite rubbish Wattie comes out with

I, Cosh

Good stuff Johnny and that film looks brilliant!

I've always thought of Autechre as being the scary face of pointless, clanky boffin techno but this is bloody lovely.

Come now, surely the man's an under-rated poet?

Cheers!

Disclaimer: the above link is NOT FUCKING SAFE FOR FUCKING WORK if you have a sound card. OTOH, it is two-and-a-half minutes of exhilarating aggression that probably does recapture that indefinable electricity of the punk scene circa '77.

I am not now, nor have I ever been, a punk. There is solid photographic evidence to support this.

I have just discovered Sonic Youth as for whatever reason they somehow eluded me so i bought 2 cds that are Goo and Daydream Nation.

Unfortunately i dont like what i heard as its all like a tuneless drone so they can go back to the shop as i dont wish to listen to any of that again.

[not sure if not liking something counts in this thread but i did just discover it]

That's a shame cos Da Youff are possibly my favourite band of all time. Two mighty fine albums there, so figure if you didn't get on with them they just ain't for you.
